This ^^^^^ My daughter and I are going on our first over seas trip at the end of January, I am terrified out of my mind, more so after the AirAisa incident.

I had managed to calm and settle myself after the first two major plane incidents earlier this yr, as we had plenty of time, but now this one is a bit to close for my nerves...Basically there is a great big ocean between Australia and the USA and then back again.

God speed, safe and happy travels to everyone in 2015...Us included :)

Kate, a belated welcome to AFF. I've never been a nervous flyer fortunately, so I can't begin to relate. So imy new year wish is that you have jb as your driver when you cross the pond. You'll be in very safe hands. happy New Year to you and yours.

Kate101, something that the media usually fail to point out in cases like AirAsia is that for every tragic flying accident, there are literally thousands of perfectly safe, perfectly comfortable and perfectly enjoyable flights and millions of airline passenger take off and land safely and securely every year. It's little comfort for the families of the AirAsia pax but for you and I (I'm also taking my family on holidays in a few days), I have absolutely no doubt that our biggest problem will be forgetting our toothbrushes in the rush to pack! Enjoy your holiday, enjoy your flights (it's a big component of your holiday) and rest comfortably in the knowledge that air travel is one of the safest forms of travel we know. When you get back, I'd enjoy reading a trip report if you have time!

1. # take-offs = # landings for all
2. Fly CX and / or SQ in F (points)
3. QF makes SYD-YVR-SYD permanent
4. Fly to Cuba, Borneo and Azerbaijan (but not on the same trip :) )
5. Qantas gives me my first op-up after 10 years being a WP.

Kate101... i am a nervous flyer as well, i normally put some music on and sit back and forget i am on a aircraft...

Clazgirl is only scared of two things doctors and flying, it took me 18 years to get her on a plane after a visit to doctor for a magic pill to take the edge off.

In two years she has been to North America *2, Fiji, Sydney, Port Hedland and in 3 months back to North America.

Hmm, in no particular order:

Fly an airline I have yet to fly
Visit a new country
Sit in 1A long-haul
Sit upstairs in J on the elusive (for me anyway) LH 748
Fill at least another page in my passport

Go to Flightradar24.com, zoom out until you can see the whole planet, and marvel at how many flights there are in the air at any one time. It's like this 365 days a year, and very very very few of them crash.

A few of my 2015 flying goals...

1. Safe travels
2. Fly 'The Residence'
3. Toulouse Airbus tour
4. A350 flight
5. 747-8 flight
6. Upgrade a passenger at random by paying their fare difference
7. Share lounge access with more people

1. No more air disasters.
2. Visit each continent at least once.
3. Try at least 5 new airlines.
4. Take my first shower in the air.
5. Find cheap way to book LH F and/or SQ R.
6. Fly less QF B737 Y and more A380 F.
7. Feel more valuable to QF as P1 member.
8. Learn from and contribute more to AFF.

......
4. Take my first shower in the air.
.......

I did that once - was seated in the rear of a Twin Otter with faulty rear door in storm :/

My goals:

1.- Fly heaps
2.- Fly far
3.- Fly well.

My wife has already suggested to me that a great New Year´s Resolution would be, however, to spend less time on AFF and searching fares, and more time talking to her! :O

Wow people have so many!

1) Int: Fly less J, more F
2) Dom: No more Y
3) Cut my flying by 50-75% if at all possible (Sacrilege I know!)

I so too want to do #4 :D

That's my favourite seat in a Twin Otter...Legroom to spare and at no additional cost!

Hmmm, are you and I married to the same woman?
