DSC is a Qantas Loyalty initiative, and they don’t really care about your first three points. It will be interesting if status extensions impact booking volumes, maybe they will, who knows. But not long to wait to find out.
There is usually a delay between when it is flagged to be cancelled and when it actually happens in the system, sometimes the delay can be longer than usual if the Scheduling / Network team are under a lot of pressure which they are at the moment :)
Revenue Mgmt can/do zero out flights to ensure...
More than likely the tech crew who were meant to be on QF433, the cancelled 10am.
As others have said the traveller, if they didn't make a fuss, was more than likely a staff traveller.
No, the credit can be used on any fare bucket. The value of the fare just has to be higher than the credit voucher.
From the T&Cs
^ Credit vouchers are issued based on the terms and conditions of the fare purchased, and can only be used towards a fare of equal or higher value. Domestic travel...
As I said in your other thread - flight cancellations due to light loading happen weeks / months out from departure. Close in there is little to no cost saving.
Can we please stop this myth about Qantas cancelling flights on the day of departure because of loads. It is not accurate I promise :)

For example.
Bought I Class fare $650 + Fare Difference at airport to J Fare $500 = $1150
Bought J Fare on website = $1150
What benefit is there to buy a more expensive fare outright or...
You're right! i read an article yesterday that said all other airlines (including Jetstar) had come to an agreement, but looks like that was incorrect and it is Qantas Group. Interesting.. Well they have more bargaining power doing it together I guess.
Qantas doesn't pay Jetstar's airport charges.. They have completely different charges.
I would argue that airports have much higher profit margins than airlines do.. At least MEL / SYD etc.
