14 hour layovers at Abu Dhabi

Thanks Jase05. Looks good, but three times the price of the Premier Inn for a refundable booking. Bit late now to try and rework the budget to pay for that, super convenient as it is. I will look and see if it is on Qantas hotels and how many points it would cost.

14 hour layovers at Abu Dhabi

Thanks for your insights. Greatly appreciated. Etihad has now moved in to the new Terminal A so no longer walking distance to the Premier Inn. However there is a shuttle bus for the 15 minute journey. So I shall go there for the overnight transit. Not sure if they will let me spend about 12...

14 hour layovers at Abu Dhabi

I have finally bitten the bullet and decided to travel to the UK after 5 long years of pandemics and fear of flying long distances with DVT. I managed to get a reasonably cheap business class fare from Kuala Lumpur to Geneva and back on Etihad. The trade off is of course long layovers in Abu...

Using the QF Website for availability of reward flights

I am sure this question has been asked before, but rather than try and wade through this site to find anything, I will be cheeky and ask again. Is there any easy way to find availability of reward flights on the QF site? It just drives me demented. Once upon a time you could see a month at a...

Article: A Brief History of Qantas Frequent Flyer

I have a 4 digit number preceded by the three leading zeros, and have been a member since September 1986. Prior to that I was a member of the Australian Airlines Flight Deck Club and, as far as I can remember, also the Qantas Captains Club. Memory is a bit hazy now on things that far back in...

Woolworths Credit Card NO longer earning QF points

I had a huge battle over many weeks with NAB to get the Qantas Premier Platinum Card, even with a balance transfer from my existing Woolies card. Met the income requirement with age pension, and super, excellent credit rating, impeccable repayment records, and whatever else would show me as a...

Woolworths Credit Card NO longer earning QF points

Basically just using the balance transfer facility from an existing card to a new card, and hoping they will give me the new card based on the fact that I already have a card and have been a good customer paying bills on time etc. There are no defaults on my credit report and I have a high...

Woolworths Credit Card NO longer earning QF points

I am at a loss as to what to do. I have wanted to dump this card for ages now due to the problems of dealing with Macquarie and their useless incompetent Philippines call centre people, and also because they cut the points earning rate in half some years ago. I certainly don't want another...

    BOAC VC10 Flights 1973

The thrill of my life was an invitation to the flight deck for the descent and landing into Heathrow airport on a QF 747. An amazing experience.

    BOAC VC10 Flights 1973

I am on a bit of a mission to try and reconstruct a history of my travel over the last 55 years. Putting together a spreadsheet based on saved tickets, passport stamps, diary entries (though I never been good with keeping a diary!), and memory. I went on a trip to the UK in December 1972...

Flying overseas with a DVT diagnosis

I had planned a trip to Queensland and Sydney last October/November to attend two family history conferences which had been booked long before I was rushed off to hospital. Was going to drive to Redcliffe (with stops along the way) for the first conference, then up to Hervey Bay to visit a...

Flying overseas with a DVT diagnosis

I find the compression stockings uncomfortable, but wore them for the three domestic flights I have taken, and generally wear them when I go out for my daily walk as advised by the Thrombosis specialist. If it helps I will keep wearing them. He did say that I should wear them on any flights I...

Flying overseas with a DVT diagnosis

Mods - Not sure where to post this, please move if not appropriate here. Back in April 2022, I suffered a PE and DVT in my right leg. It was stabilised very quickly and I have been ok ever since. Now on blood thinners (Xarelto) to manage the condition. In July I flew to Norfolk Island - with...

Virgin Australia and Qatar Announce Strategic Partnership

This is looking like a disaster for me. Qatar is my preferred airline along with SIA. None of the others come anywhere close. I have QFF earning cards and now in a bind if I cannot use those points on Qatar for J flights. Being retired I cannot change my credit cards over to Velocity, and if...
