I liked Select so much last month I inadvertently went about $15k over the credit limit but paid by BPay on the due date.

You might be surprised to hear that it wasn't me paying the bills last month. It was the office instead. I paid for the tyre blowout.

Applied, received and then cancelled a SELECT card when I became aware of the fee-for-life Signature promotion.

Thought about it for a week but in the end I decided the $700 annual fee is not worth the difference, taking into account my spending pattern.

Shuffle nearly all onto my Altitude Black nowadays!

Just out of curiosity did you use it once to spend on something thus getting the 60,000 sign up points on offer?

FWIW, my Select card renewal fee came through in early December and I called yesterday to see if they could waive or cut the fee and they said no, so then I asked if I would get a full refund if I cancelled the card and they put me through to another department who offered to cut the annual fee in half, by $350 to $350. So I said yes. Just FYI...

Hope this helps someone.

I looked up my Citi Select card today and the office had put about $72,000 since I last looked a fortnight ago and seeing the credit limit is $75,000 I decided to get some credit headroom back on the card as it is 2 weeks to go in the monthly cycle.
I do see the $700 fee as a fairly modest cost to have a Visa card that pays such generous points.
We booked 2 more Suites rides this afternoon so it will be Good Morning America for 182,750 Kris miles out of Singapore.

Flying out of Perth must make via Singapore more attractive for a US flight compared to us Eastern Australians - lucky you!

Yes it cuts out 18 million who don't think about going backwards to go forwards.
I don't get to see many/any from Sydney nor Melbourne!

They made the same offer to me in the same circumstance as well.

But they made it clear it is only for one year and the full fee will be charged next year.

However, as nearly all my spend is now on Altitude Black, I elected to downgrade to the free-for-life Signature.

I got stuck going over my anniversary date by 2 days. Anyway, have accepted the reduced fee of $350, awaiting free card for next year.

CB stated no partial refund on annual fee if cancel prior to 12 months hence felt that $350 was better than $700. Can anyone confirm? I will ideal cancel Select when get free Signature

PS - CB customer service is atrocious. Could not tell me if cancel Select what happens to 200K points, does it go to Signature.

All my Select points are transferred to Signature.

Same log on details, too.

Interesting. Neither of those things happened for me! I transferred almost all my select points to KF anyway - all
I have left is ~2000 as a consequence of only being able to transfer in blocks of 15000.

Thank you very much DeKa, RWeir & Cove.

Great to know - Good news and very interesting, so thank you all!!!

London, Los Angeles and Paris are looking good then Angus. Those Kris points really get you there in style.

Does anyone know if the Priority Pass Prestige Membership that comes with the Select card will be cancelled once the Select card itself is cancelled? I cancelled my Select card 2 weeks ago, but my Priority Pass card has an expiry of Dec 2015 printed on it, and when I go to the Priority Pass website, it still lets me log in, without telling me anything to indicate that my membership is no longer valid.

I'm not hugely worried about it either way, considering I only used the PP card twice in the first year - and one of those times I was flying J anyway, but the lounge I was in was so cough that I thought I'd go and check out a different one :). Also, I now have two different PP cards with 2 free visits each for me only. Still though, the Prestige membership via Select gets unlimited visits for me and a guest, so I'm wondering if I should hang on to the card?
