Morning all,

I'm only new to this posting business, so my apologies is this has been answered.

I am currently PS, and will be earning the required 40 SC's to bump up to SG on Thursday. I am then flying SYD-AKL-SFO-YVR on December 16, and YVR-LAX-AKL-SYD on January 2, all on Air NZ (Air Canada with NZ flight number to and from YVR).

My question is this - as my SG card will likely not arrive before December 16, does anyone know if I can get a temporary card to ensure lounge access in SFO and LAX?

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Welcome to AFF TJShanahan!

I had a temporary card written out a while back so not sure if still possible.

Would taking a print out of your status page help at all? It will have your status.

Normally NZ will have access to your status, this takes up to a week to be updated after you are upgraded. As JohnK mentioned , always helpful to have a screen display of your status from your account.

As for lounge access, you will not have access in SFO or YVR . You only have access to NZ owned and operated lounges .. full list here International Lounges - Lounge Information - Koru - Airpoints - Air New Zealand - Australia Site

Just another example of how VA status for lounge access sucks in comparison to Oneworld or Star Alliance carriers......

Come on VA... how hard can it be... If you fly on a partner airline including code share (so long as you have a flight number of a VA partner) then you should have lounge access.

This would put them on par with what Qantas offers for lounge access.

As soon as your status review is done (usually takes a day or so after the credits are credited to get you over the line), you'll be able to see Gold on your status. Get a screenshot of that and/or the "Welcome to Gold" email that you'll get from VA. As soon as the computer says you are Gold, you should see Gold on your boarding pass. But having something that they can see seems to be a good idea with VA's partners.

Thanks so much for all the replies folks. I must admit I'm a bit miffed re SFO given it is a 9 hour layover, but I'll just have to put up with heading into town and having a sandwich overlooking the Golden Gate (That's what the cool kids do right??)

Thanks again for your help!

Catch the train into town and check out Super Duper Burger on Market. It's so good I ate there twice in one day when I was in SF a few weeks back.

That sounds like a far better option!

Here's another question, given that I have, courtesy of SYDCBRSYD flight yesterday I have now hit Velocity SG, would I be better to attach my Aegean Miles and Bonus account to my SYDAKLSFOYVR YVRLAXAKLSYD flights to get * Gold? I'll just coughe in by 952 miles.

However, will doing that mean I can't access lounges on the way as my Velocity SG won't be attached?
