Hi All,

How is a sector defined, own metal or own ticket number ?

Cheers, akp

A single flight, A to B.

If you were going PER-ADL-SYD, that would be two segments.

As far as I know (happy to stand corrected), VA do not have any A-to-C-via-B flights on the same flight number at present?

thanks drewbles.

What i meant to ask was that VA has a line item where in addition to the number of SC's earned you also need to have a number of sectors earned before u can requalify / earn SG or WP. So what is the definition of this sector :)

cheers,

Hi All,

From the T&C (https://www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/content/ProgramBenefits/TermsConditions/index.htm):

Eligible Sector means a flight journey, from an origin to a destination:
(a) that has been flown;
(b) that has been purchased using cash or an Accepted Payment Card;
(c)(i) (for a flight journey flown prior to 13 January 2013) that has not been purchased in whole or in part using Points; or
(ii) (for a flight journey flown on or after 13 January 2013) that has not been booked as a Reward Seat;
(d) where Virgin Australia is the marketing carrier (this means that the flight number starts with a DJ or VA prefix).

thanks DGW, that just goes to show how many times I have accepted and T&C's without reading them :)

Yeah that's what I explained :)

If a flight earns SC's, that's a segment. Single flight = single lot of SC's = single flight segment:)

thanks drewbles, i have a few international travels lined up and all were to be booked on partner airline with partner flight number so would have been good for SC but not for sector.. I still dont understand why are the tickets more expensive when bought via VA as opposed to SQ or EY.

..so VA gets to make money on top of the amount they send to SQ or EY for the flight?
