It's supposed to work!

At initial on-line check-in it even states it!
If you just want to reprint your boarding pass go to step ...

But it doesn't work. Once you have checked-in on-line, you always get the following message:
We are unable to process your request as you have already checked in. Proceed to a Service desk at the airport where a customer service agent will assist you. [BR046]
It's not posible to get another print of the BP. :(

Sometimes printers aren't around. Sometimes you only have an iPhone. Sometimes the printer failed. Sometimes you want to check-in early but print the BP later. Sometimes you just need another copy.

Please fix it. Thanks! :)

Been a while since I've printed out a QF BP but I've had no problems do OLCI multiple times. Perhaps the trick is to just ignore that message and click through as if it is the first time.

It think it works OK domestically. () But my flights lately have been international. And today it doesn't work (again!).

I usually save mine as a pdf which can be printed later if necessary.

Yes - that's an obvious (and wise) answer. But what if you are on an iPhone or on a public computer where it wasn't possible? This is why I'm posting the issue. We travel! We are often in circumstances that we don't always control ...

Maybe there needs to be an option where the boarding pass is emailed to you as well as printing it?

AA does this and I always choose to have them emailed to me. Just in case.

My short (well 2 short) thoughts are: a) ask them to print it out at the airport. Not ideal if trying to change seats. Also not the point you're raising, more a work around. b) on iPhone can you use the passbook BP via the qantas app?

On an iPhone you can also save the PDF at the end to a number of apps, a big one is iBooks but there are others that allow you to save PDF's to.

i had an issue on my parents flights where the computer hooked up to the printer at the hotel did not have adobe and not being an administrator I could not install, so I couldn't open the BP's to save or print.
It was extremely frustrating and the hotels remote print was down so had I thought to do it on my laptop it wouldn't have worked anyway as I couldn't print from my laptop and saving it and emailing it I still wouldn't be able to open it on their computers.

So does JQ for that matter... surely QF can do it if JQ can...

... and the other option is ... why not (as qantas.com first says is possible in the OLCI initial process) allow another chance at printing the BP?

I've had the .pdf on my iPhone a few times and there was nothing I could do with it. No other APP (I have) wanted it. And there was no other chance to get it again. You can't even email it from the iPhone. Taking a photo of it might have worked. But there are other non-iPhone situations when a second chance to print the BP can be useful. And one reason for printing is because you can skip the airport desk (if no check-in luggage) which might be busy or maybe not even open.

Having a "send it via email" option could be good! Anyway - it seems it's supposed to work - i.e. getting another chance to print it. But it doesn't.

Argh, this just happened to me.

Anyway to resolve it? Can FF send you a PDF? Not sure how I could get a passbook or anything. Never had this problem with Domestic.

Not a solution but if I know I won't be able to check in at the right time, Ill get AMEX concierge to check it and email me the BP.

Maybe thats a work around have someone check you in and get them to email the BP if you are on the iPhone?

I have been told by a insider that this restriction has some history to it and is related to Aviation security. When QF received approval from the various government agencies for online international check in , they had concerns around boarding pass security and fraud. Part of this was the ability to provide multiple boarding passes / reprint .

In today’s day and age the restriction is a bit silly as there is nothing to stop someone creating a boarding pass or printing multiple photo copies, however QF was not able to offer the ability to reprint once a boarding pass was presented online.

I now check in from the Ipad and then email from within the PDF viewer a copy to myself, easy!

By default an iPhone can read a pdf but can't do anything with it! You have to install the Adobe Reader app (it's free) and then, once the pdf is opened, remember to hit the share button and select Open in "Adobe Reader". When you do that the pdf is saved in the app's document list and can be printed, emailed etc.

But remember you only get one chance to open it with the Adobe Reader app!

(unless there's another way? :) )

I use Docs to go, which also stores it.
