Hey guys :)

Its finally the right time for me to 'pop' that question and I wanted to get some ideas where in this World should I do it? :p

My only requirements are really, it will be in early 2014 (think February or March) and I need to fly to/via Hong Kong to pick up the special item, then to the destination.

I am happy to fly anywhere really :) so if you think flying to Cape Town because proposing on the top of Table Mountain at sunrise is the best thing in the world then I would definitely consider that.

So where have you proposed? and/or what location would you suggest?? :)

Cheers :) :)

Ps. lucky my other half doesn't read AFF

The flippant answer is "It doesnt matter" as the proposal is the important bit, not the location.

The more serious answer would be "in a place that is either romantic or has meaning for your relationship".

$0.02 = mine.

GOOD LUCK!!!!

How about over a shared tasting menu in F on a QF A380?

You could probably rope the crew and QF into helping out with something like this. You'd obviously need to pay/redeem your way, but perhaps they could help add to the experience.

Do you guys have anywhere special (country/city/attraction/restaurant) that means something to both of you?

Anywhere that your partner has always wanted to go but never go to (country/city/attraction/restaurant)?

I proposed to Mrs Flying Fox in the back of a Toyota Tarago that I had all the rear seats removed and setup a gourmet picnic for dinner overlooking the lights of ADL.

Best of luck with your event and do update us on your success!

As others have said, somewhere that has special meaning to both of you or even just her

Good luck :D

Reminds me of the current Kia ad on TV except yours has a happy ending!

Could make for a Toyota advert.... Back of a Tarago, Happy ending guaranteed!

Windy Point has a nice view

1) I proposed to SWMBO in the lounge room - certainly nothing fancy.
2) A friend posted on FB that there was a proposal on her MEL-ADL flight last week.

Just remember where ever you propose is going to be your 'special' place. Then you'll have to visit it every so often including special anniversaries. Do you want to incur that expense that often?

Sorry I'm not a romantic, more a pragmatist.

Cheers to everyone, and thanks for sharing the Tarago story ;)

The two questions you posed, very helpful to my decision making. We should go to somewhere where we both have some special connection to ... we've been to around 35 countries together so I will have to sit down and think of some special places and narrow it down :)

Thanks to all again.

You may like to consider a location that has been significantly used for this blessed event in the past.

Perhaps the Temple of Diana in the magnificent grounds of Blenheim Palace, where Winston Churchill popped the question to his Darling Clementine.

Current entry fee to Blenheim is around 20 quid.

Looks like a mausoleum! Not my idea of a romantic location.

I think Winston Churchill knew exactly what he was doing. Very fitting symbolism indeed ;)

Lord Howe Island.
I know, not convenient from HKG, but local to Aus so easy to return to in the future.
It's a wonderful, magical, beautiful place - we went there for our 'mini-moon' for a week - and while expensive to get there (QF monopoly!) as a reward redemption, it's great value from SYD.

But wherever you do it, it will be special! Good luck, whatever you choose...

Don't do it.

But, if you must I always think any scenic spot in the Rocky Mountains would be the way to go.

Matt

My suggestion, a beautiful beach, great surrounds with very clear blue water at sunset - Maldives perhaps ... Best of luck :)
