Hi guys,
Wanted to just update you all on timeframes for earning of points, as a number of you have expressed frustrations on the length of time some of your flights have taken to be credited to your accounts.

The 'Earn File Frequency' for data that we receive of our Velocity members flying on our partners has had an update:
  • Delta – Daily (Increased from Weekly)
  • Virgin America – Weekly (Increased from Monthly)
  • Etihad – Bi-Weekly (Increased from Weekly)
  • Air NZ - Daily
  • Singapore - Daily

Obviously this is for flights where Velocity numbers had been attached to PNRs correctly. Retro claim timeframes are as per before.

Here are some small tips for ensuring that your Velocity points earning:

  1. Ensure your booking name and frequent flyer account match exactly
  2. Ensure you are booked in a valid class
  3. Ensure your travel agent has entered the FFN with a VA and not DJ or another airline prefix
  4. Ensure you only have 1 frequent flyer number in the PNR ( a VA one if you want VA points)
  5. Ensure you have a VA frequent flyer number in the PNR if you want Velocity points
  6. If a codeshare flight, ensure that it is a valid for earn via codeshare.
  7. VA NZ SQ points claims can be done online, and is the fastest way to get a reply

Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for the update VFF!

Assuming that the points/sc do actually post in line with the above time frames I'm perfectly happy with that. I've had plenty of *A flights wait weeks to post and they're supposed to be the worlds largest and most well oiled set of airline partners.

Good to hear you've listened to some feedback and increased the frequency!

Thanks VFF, most useful.

Find the daily SQ interesting. Mrs Grubbidok and I recently had some SYD-SIN-CDG returns on SQ. Mine did indeed post the very next day (thank you VA), but hers took well over a month - even though they were the same booking and FF was listed. She's Silver now so maybe a better result next time? :p

Definitely liking the idea of DL daily. On the SYD-LAX-PDX-PHX-ATL-BOS-CVG-LAX-SYD trip I have coming up in Dec I was dreading trying to keep track!

This sounds great but I have had to put in 8 separate retro claims for Etihad J flights this year. Two were taken in April and only credited in late July. I am currently waiting on 4 x J flights to credit from from early July. All flights had the FF numbers properly attached and I had to follow each flight up multiple times with the Velocity Team.

Thanks for the update VFF; along similar lines....

Has there been any update on the turnaround times of retro claims with partner airlines?

Thanks for the update - My Velocity review date in Sept coincides with an extended trip that will ensure retention of status for next year but I was worried about the timing of those first SC postings. However a nice Velocity lady has now explained there is a month's grace period at the end of each member year for late entries. So we can look forward to the delights of EY FLounge in AUH..

Any promising news on non-airline partners? Seems to be be very hit and miss at times.

Also appears VA flights still have a problem. Flew tuesday morning and still nothing on my account saturday morning.

Hi VFF,

How about the earn file from VA*VA flights? I'm still waiting on a VA29 to credit to my account to requalify partner platinum before my account rolls over in the next few days, so I'm keen to have it credit sooner rather than later.

VA NZ SQ points claims can be done online, and is the fastest way to get a reply

If it's the fastest, then I hate to think what the slowest is. Retro claim applied for and approved, credit within 72 hours promised, promise not kept. If that online retro claim process goes to an inbox for someone to manually process, may I respectfully suggest that you either a) supply more caffeine, b) pay them for some overtime or c) both. :-|

Same here - flew two VA flights last Friday (regional WA) and neither has posted yet. Booking made through VA website and Velocity number attached to the booking, which was made after VA's official takeover date of Skywest of 2 August, so I wouldn't have thought there'd be any delays with SCs etc posting seeing as they're all VA flights now.

I flew to OOL with my family and parents on Friday and all points and SC posted on Sunday with the return flights on Monday posting this morning for all 6 of us.

An update - I had a little whinge to the platinum@ e-mail address and the correct points and status credits were posted quite promptly to my account. Still a bit annoyed that I needed to use the online claim and then write an e-mail to get them (especially for a flight that was marketed and operated by VA), but at least it's sorted now!
