Hi everyone,
I just found out that work will send me to a conference in Budapest and have taken this opportunity to try the whole new QF/EK partnership. Visiting friends and family on my way, I have booked QF SYD-DXB on the 4th of April and then onwards EK (QF codeshare) DXB-MUC and the same again on the way back with a two nights stopover in Dubai. All flights in J but upgrade requests to F are already in the booking for SYD-DXB and DXB-SYD sectors (QF metal). I've read through most of the threads here but am still a bit unsure about a few things and wonder what's the best strategy to book everything in etc. Keen to hear people's thoughts on here- I will make up for it with a detailed trip report once I'm back

- First of all, given I'll be on the 4th or 5th Qf flight via Dubai, can I expect all sorts of trouble/issues/confused staff where ever I go? I'm mostly thinking luggage connections, lounge access and so on. Any thoughts or things to be careful?
- On my way out, I should qualify for "Dubai Connect" as I'm traveling J and the time between flights is around 8. My travel agent has told me she has already added it to the booking but I don't really trust her so can I book/check this with QF somehow- there's nothing online on the booking but maybe worth a call to the Platinum number? Or should I wait another week or two maybe? Just want to make sure I don't end up in Dubai and sit/sleep in the lounge for 8 hours... I know that the entire process will be quite standard for EK but I'm not so sure how QF will handle it. Has anyone ever done it on EK- is it usually quite easy and straightforward or a hassle to even find your transport upon arrival in DXB?
- Similarly, I should qualify for chauffeur service pretty much everywhere if I read the QF material correctly. Obviously in Sydney both on departure and arrival and also for my stopover in Dubai (I hope this is correct?). I won't need it in MUC as I will be traveling on to Berlin so that's fine but the other ones will be good- I vaguely recall that there is a booking functionality coming to the QF website, anyone knows anything more on that?
- As a QF Platinum, I should get access to the Emirates First Lounge in Dubai, is this confirmed?
- And a rather exotic question at the very end- might be something to really call up QF about: I'm going to book a separate flight on Air Berlin which will get me from MUC to TXL straight after arriving from Dubai. I'm sure that QF could link those two bookings and I could check through my luggage to Berlin if I as arriving into MUC on QF metal as Air Berlin is part of OneWorld. Now with the EK bit in there- any ideas whether QF at SYD would be able to check my luggage through all the way SYD-DXB-MUC-TXL or whether I will need to collect my luggage and then check in/go through security all again in MUC? This will decide whether I can book a connection just 90 minutes after arrival into MUC or rather have to book one three hours later to be on the safe side so any suggestions with that would be appreciated!
