Hi, first time poster here. Booked through Etihad, PE SYD to AUH then Economy to MXP return.

Velocity Gold and wanting to know if I can upgrade the PE leg's. Fare Basis PLEB1YAU

Over and above, any Velocity Gold's ever upgraded?

Cheers,

Never upgraded on long haul as Gold as a courtesy and from my experience with VA on international flights, they have never allowed me to upgrade one leg with points and leave the other sector as normal..it needs to be straight away from what I've been told from numerous agents. You MAY have the option to pay for a cash upgrade with EY on one of the sectors if it's available (ask at check in and the gate)

Cheers,

Just so I am clear have you booked Y+ through Etihad or VA. Etihad don't have Y+ on their planes and Y+ is not available on Etihad's website.... however if you are flying Y+ on VA metal then there is always a slim chance of an upgrade. There is always the points option that will cost you 45000 point option but that is not always successful. I have attempted this 4 times and only succeeded once. However I have been upgraded at the gate twice. Once from AUH-CDG and the other from AUH-DUS. As well last year I was upgraded at check-in from Y+ to J at Sydney airport. In all cases I was Platinum however when I got to chatting with the couple next to me on the upgraded flight last year the couple next to me where upgraded as well. He was Plat and his wife was gold.

Never hope for an upgrade or assume you will get one. It is a much better feeling when you are not expecting it and you get one out of the blue... good luck and good trip:)
