Howdy all,

Hope your all enjoying the Xmas break.

I'm looking at booking my folks in for a night at the Crown Metropol hotel in Perth. I'll be paying for the stay on my credit card, but they will be listed as the guests. Am i still eligable to claim velocity points for the stay? or will it be rejected since my name isn't on the room?

Also i read a thread regarding claiming points from a Crown Plaza, which seamed to imply it wasn't just a simple process of showing my velocity card at the hotel, or listing it during the booking process. It appears it involves registering with priority club then changing your earning preferences to specify airline miles instead of ppoints. Is this still the case? I've run through the online booking engine and can't see anywhere to list a velocity number?

If there is a problem claiming points with a different name on the room, is there any way around it? If i was to check in to the room, and then leave the key cards with my folks, are they likely to have problems? On a side note, my dad's name is actually my middle name. Could claim they mixed up the names??

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

Why not book it in your name and include them as extra guests?

I thought about that - but firstly, wouldn't there be an extra charge for the additional guest? and secondly its a package deal for 2 people - includes vallet parking, and breakfast for 2.

As much as i want the points, i would prefer them to have a relaxing time - they're a bit old fashioned in they don't like cheating the system per say. So i don't want them having to lie about names etc if you know what i mean..

Put your name down (initial and surname) and your mum, most places refer to the guest as Mr X anyway.

That could work..

The other option i though about was signing the old man up for a velocity account - then using family pooling to get the points back?

Last time I was there they were not part of Priority Club. I managed to assign my points directly to QFF.
By the way the rooms are very nice after the new owners did the makeover.

The room makeover was done before the rebranding.

Correct me if I'm wrong but what on earth do the packer family's casino hotels (ie the crown metropols etc) have to do with the crown plazas, holiday inns etc etc

Apart from the Crown Metropol being a former IC, not much.
