Double SC's - A mere Marketing tool or Doom for WP?

I really can't agree about lounge crowding. Back when they shut down the airline my friendly staff member in a SYD lounge was saying it was good that all the usual faces were still around. The last time I spoke to him he said lots if people have left, have moved to virgin, and he no longer sees them. Of course I've hardly been in that lounge in the last few months.

maybe Qantas are thinking the time is fast approaching to spin ff off and float it??

That's been on the agenda for years.

Random.

Reading some of these posts and I just love the way some people justify these gifts they have received and how worthy they are to receive them.

Couldn't agree more seems to be a lot of posts here with people feeling defensive. There must be something to the argument that has raised so much debate

Re: WP for the first time ever

I reckon QF would have been better offering double points rather than double SCs. That way no devaluation of status.

With their recent notification they are changing the terms and conditions from 6 month's notice to 3 month's notice there is the potential for WP benefits to be diluted. If everyone who has gold is now platinum, what's the point?

As for F lounges - I can easily see that as a withdrawal of benefit. EK doesn't have dedicated First lounges in AU - it is a shared lounge. What are they going to do? Easy - allow EK/QF F only into those lounges (apologies in advance cause I haven't read all 11 pages of this thread and this might have already been stated).

Re: WP for the first time ever

Just received a double SC offer, however it's only valid for international travel (and between selected destinations).

The only options to/from Perth are: Hong Kong, Singapore and London.

Pretty useless really and certainly not enticing enough for me to stop crediting to BA as I do now instead.

Re: WP for the first time ever

Not sure if I can make use of this one. Limited desinations and mostly non-business seats.

Re: WP for the first time ever

got it too - it still doesnt come close to ex-tpe CX J flights on the earn rate though but I might make use nonetheless

Re: WP for the first time ever

I too just got the one this afternoon; details:

For a limited time, we're offering you double Status credits* on eligible^ Qantas International flights between Australia and a range of International ports for selected travel dates. To take advantage of this offer, register and book between 25 October and 2 November 2012.

So for me - all Y Intl travel, this would be great IF the travel dates weren't so far out (next year) and the booking dates so close - I rarely know more than 2-3 weeks in advance of travel, so even though I have registered for the bonus, I doubt I will be able to take advantage :(.

It seems to me to be aimed at the holiday traveller rather than the business traveller....

Re: WP for the first time ever

Got the same offer, but looking at my travel pattern I can't make sure of it.

Buying Oct/Nov 2012 to fly 2013 doesn't work with my current spur of the moment work travel plans.

Re: WP for the first time ever

Received this offer as well. Doesn't suit but I'm a bit puzzled about QF's "targeting ability"

I'm WP and will re-qualify next month, 7 months early :).
I've a DONE4 booked already - the flights this qualifying year won't get me to P1 so I'm not sure what Qantas see as my incentive. It isn't inspiring me to do more travel.

Mrs Paddy and Junior Paddy on the other hand have JASA's to USA and back booked at Xmas will get to Silver but no double SC promo for them that might inspire a run at Gold.

I have come to the conclusion that all DSC offers are totally random. The only exception being end of membership year?

My membership year reset 1st October, so I'm still in my first month.

I realise that may be the case for some but a lot of the targeted DSC offers were in the last 3 months of the members year!

Your offer might just fall under the totally random category...

Not totally. Since moving outside Australia, not a single offer came my way. I don't know if it is just a co-incidence or not, but about a week ago, I did an experiment - and changed my address back to an Australian address, and like magic I got the above DSC today. Co-incidence, or not?

Three out of four household members received the offer today.

Me (2nd one in 16 years) membership ends Feb13...I've already re-qualified Plat until end Feb 2014. Maybe they want me to push onto bigger & better things.
SWMBO (also 2nd one in 16 years) Ditto above
Daughter (1st one ever) membership ends Sept13

Interestingly no DSC for traveling F :(

Co-incidence I think. My address has been UK based now for 2 years and I received it this morning (while still on UK).

Maybe this DSC offer is quite far reaching? A lot of people here seem to have it....

Both DH and I got the offer. Both WP but different year ends. Very small booking window counts us out. Off to DEL tomorrow via KUL and not a QF flight in sight. D7 premium tomorrow (gulp) and then MH J.

Cheers

Timmi

That's sort of encouraging. Funny I had not had any form of QFF offer/communication since changing my address to outside of Aus (except perhaps one in mid 2009), and within a week of changing it back, I've had two - this and Hilton HHonors double QFF point promo (which my partner, still registered at SG address did not get).
