Just had the phone call from Velocity to say that my companion gold member has just been bumped up to Platinum, which made me think about how many SCs have passed through Mrs F's account over the last year and why I am very grateful for the way VA & Velocity do things.

Dec 2011 - my SCs are pooled to Mrs F, we have a return to LAX on double SC's & she requals Plat less than 4 weeks after qualifying.
March 2012 - Mrs F pooling to me qualifies me Plat.
June 2012 - Mrs F's pooling requals me for Plat. I pool back to Mrs F and her "companion gold" is given to her mother, & shortly thereafter she is bumped to Plat.
August 2012 - Pooling from Mrs F again back to me qualifies me for companion gold (given to a family member), then 4 weeks later, companion Plat.

I booked Mrs F's flights for the next quarter (20+flights) including 4 return paid J to Perth from BNE, the rest are East coast & NZ flights that are combo of flexi upgrades & paid cash upgrades. This will net another 500 odd SCs, then we have 1 paid pax J to AUH netting 360scs, & 2 pax paid J to JFK with a side trip in F to SFO for another 1000 odd combined.
This puts Mrs F having put well over 6000 scs through her account in just on 12 months....
Considering people are getting Plat requals at 400 odd SCs, what else would she have to do to get the new VIP level ?

Probably to have kept them all to herself. I'm guessing those given the new status will be people who are not pooling their status to others so that they still have an incentive to fly DJ... no?

Yeah very true, but I am sure they are able to see both her "actual" earned SC's as well as the $ she has put through VA...

Are you bragging IanF, no just kidding, well done to you guys, I like hearing things like this so keep sharing.

Well yeah, kinda bragging, but the downside is MrsF is away every week and this is one of the small but fun perks she gets for her efforts.
Also, as a previous QF Plat & AA Explat, I have seen the differerance between programs and consider the VA program to be one of the best. I was a rusted-on Oneworld fan, but VA are now really kicking ahead. Mrs F loves them and it was her experiences that convinced me to swap over to VA. I am pretty sure that this much flying on QF would have yielded 1 x WP1 and 1 x WP, not 4 x WP.

Not sure it would work now, with the requirement to fly DJ sectors as well?

We all do fly VA regularly, just not as much as MrsF.... I have had about 30+ flights in last 12 months. MrsF's mother has had about 20+.
