Flying JQ in Y CNS/SYD, then JQ in J SYD/HON/SYD, then QA SYD/CNS, as a SG can I use all QF lounges with guest (wife)?.

If you are both flying Business Class then you do not need to guest your wife into the Qantas Business Lounges.

Yes aware if flying J on Q no problem, but as we going JQ in Y CNS/SYD and SYD/HNL in J can we both use the QF lounges as we are not flying QA on these sectors.

I never fly JQ but as far as I am aware, SG allows you + 1 guest into any Qantas Club whether flying QF or JQ.

Sometimes it is easy to check the eligible table on the qantas website

http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/airlines/qantas-club-lounge-access/global/en

For domestic JQ flights SG allows you access with one guest. Exception is if you have a JQ flight departing CNS international terminal as there is no QP - it is a JQ lounge.

If you purchased business max on JQ then you get lounge access. If not SG allows access with one guest.

Hopefully that clarifies the situation.

I don't like starting new threads so I thought I'd tack my lounge access question on the end of this.

Has anybody had any experience with accessing a Qantas domestic lounge prior to Jetstar international travel, as a WP?

A friend and I have a late night (actually, early morning) departure from Perth to Asia and obviously can't check in until about three hours before the JQ flight. We'd like to go to the domestic airport first for a few drinks until we can check in at the international terminal.

Technically, I don't believe the lounge access rules prohibit it but I'm wondering if others think we'd run into problems and be denied.

As a WP I have never had a problem - most of the time they don't even look for the reservation; just making sure the WP card has not expired.

In a related vein, as a SG I often accessed the SYD Domestic T3 lounge before heading over to International T1.

Doing it now. "Stuck" in SYD Dom J lounge, used after flight access with WP I assume. Waiting for the T-3 hrs to come up for JQ3 and then get me some F Lounge love.

Good to know. Thanks.

I won't have had a previous qualifying flight that day, however.

AFAIK the rules say something like "same day flight", not specifically before or after.
Mind you in my limited experience the Guardians of the Perth QP are the most officious card scanning types so it might be an idea to have the rules with you.

I could not agree with you more there. Perhaps it has something to do with the limited space at peak times but I've never been able to access the lounge without my card being swiped or scanned, the complete opposite to a number of other domestic lounges.

That's interesting! Never thought about going to the Domestic lounge before an International flight. We need somewhere to wait before the International check-in opens - did they ask for a QF boarding pass at the Domestic lounge?

In Sydney T3? Rarely ... and when the did I simply proffered my e-ticket if I did not already have a bp.

I would check-in (carry on only) at the 'seamless transfer desk' near gate 1.

Under the oneworld lounge access rules, does a Business class passenger have a guest entitlement? The oneworld lounge access page doesn't seem to indicate one way or the other (meaning there probably isn't guest privilleges).

I'm coming up on 2400 SCs and I've resolved to give my Mother enough points to top up her total so she can fly on a QFF five stop award in J. My Father will slum it in Y (he finds the idae of paying more than about $250 return to Singapore from Perth unpalatable so he must pay the (other) price) so I'm wondering if instead of giving my Mother partner Gold she could simply guest him in.

Of those with oneworld lounge access by dint of "Class of Service", only First Class passengers may have a guest: (http://www.oneworld.com/ffp/lounge-access/)
oneworld lounge access for First Class or Business Class travellers

Indulge yourself before departure in a wider range of airport lounges when you fly First Class or Business Class with a oneworld member airline.

  • Customers flying First or Business Class have access to the equivalent class of lounge regardless of their frequent flyer status. First Class passengers may have access to a Business Class or frequent flyer lounge if a First Class lounge is not available.
  • First Class passengers may be accompanied by one guest travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld airline.
  • Customers flying in Economy class on a domestic or intra-European segment to connect to or from a oneworld longhaul First or Business Class flight can also use the lounge applicable to the class in which they are travelling on the longhaul segment.

A J pax on a Qf marketed flight can have one guest travelling on the same flight as them to enter Qf lounges.

Notwithstanding simongr's sentiment, I have a further question.

Arriving into LAX on QF in first (TBIT), then going to NYC on AA in first (2 class 767 I think) from T4. Can I access AA flagship lounge? I am SG.

If a 763 then access may be problematic, but since September 1st, anyone travelling AA LAX-JFK in a 3 class aircraft (762/772) in First Class (F, A, P, Z) can access the Flagship lounge.

They can also use the "Flagship" premium check-in entry (Full red coat/black hat valet) at T4 a bit further up (East - away from TBIT) from both the normal and Priority AAccess check-in areas. It's look more of a doorway to a boutique Hotel than an Airport Terminal.
