I was only allowed to put up to $5000 on AMEX surcharge-free when I bought my current car.

And only $1000 deposit on a new car ordered yesterday - but that's my own decision as the car isn't due to be delivered until Jan 2012. Hoping to put more of the balance on AMEX closer to delivery.
