Velocity changes: Changes to status credits

Hi

Interesting that I flew Abx-Syd-Mel this week and looked at the statement tonight with 10SC?? this has to be an error right?? Should be 20SC.

I spoke to Velo in KL and explained my plight, was told that it was because it was the same ticket.. Confused..

BTW would have REXed it but needed to drop off an envelope in SYD lol! was cheap still..

Cheers

Pog

That is not right. PM Velocity Rewards.

For anyone thinking of status running it, Virgin has some good sales on at the moment. Decided to head to Perth for the Western Derby, $140 and cha-ching with the SCs.

This is really good news :)

It will be interesting to see whether the new Velocity will include Lifetime Status accumulation. Given all this status running, it would be a shame for all those hard earned credits to expire in 12 months. :D Atm, this is the only aspect where QFF have it on the Velocity scheme. Apart from that, it's VA all the way.

With their recent first SC "millionaire", it's obvious they are keeping records of life accurals, so anything's possible.

Just thinking, with the new SC earn, Mr Gore will most likely remain the only SC "millionaire" for some time to come , or will they take back his reward and give him a "ten thousandaire" award instead! :D:p

Hey just watch "Up in the Air":

IMDb Video: Up in the Air: Trailer #2

and meet up with other DJ SC runners in the Mel or Syd DJ Lounge for a drink to 2. You know what you are, so lets band together!!

I have a question...

I have just been upgraded to silver status, will I receive a new card & bag tag?

You should do, but if they're rebranding their cards it might not be immediate. Let us know if you do get a new look card!

Just saw my first flight since the changes hit my account - all looks fine re. SCs.

One query though regarding Velocity Points... I normally book a cheap as I can outward leg, but with a flexible return leg (to allow for changes, etc.). I've just looked at my account and can see 2,109 for the flexible return leg (MEL to SYD), but 0 Velocity Points for the outbound leg! As I said, status credits look fine (10 for the outbound, 20 for the return), but I was surprised to see the lack of Velocity Points for the SYD-MEL leg.

The website still says 5 points per $1 spent. It wasn't a freebie flight, so very confused. Anyone cast any light on this?

On another note, I very much like the new SC setup. I should hit gold this week / next week. Just in time for a couple of trips to Europe. :)

There still seem to be a few bugs in the system.

My flight on Friday MEL-HBA credited 10 SCs, even though it should have only been 7 as it was booked before the changes.

Hopefully those 3 extra credits get me to Platinum at the end of the year!

It seems that all flights since last Sunday have been crediting at the new rates regardless of when they were booked. My PER-MEL-PER flights last week earned 20 each, rather than 9 + 11. So it makes a massive difference!

I understand, and in fact for the 3 flights I took this week, that SCs are crediting at the level applicable on the date flown, not the date booked. It seems logical as otherwise they would have to run parallel calculations for up to 11 months for bookings prior to 6 June...so hopefully you will be Platinum!

I like. Old bookings are earning at the new rates for me. Given thatDJ do t have acceptable timing of my usual return flight I really like that it'll be just that little bit easier to maintain gold. It fact easy to retain gold if I do half my flights on DJ as I committed to do, compared to a stretch target under the old system. I guess this adjustment will also accommodate platinum to some extent.
Prize for first person to post a photo of a priority boarding gate?
just catching up of this thread now. Used it on 9 June, should have got a picture :-(

Velocity Rewards, is there any word yet on whether reward bookings (particularly international long haul) will earn status under this new regime?

Many thanks,

Cheers.

What I would really like to see is when booking flights for whole family at once that you have the choice as to who to allocate the SC's to.

We did pass that feedback on to Velocity Rewards at the lunch in Sydney yesterday. But of course, we didn't find out anything!
