Moreover, might see some more Star Alliance in Australia!
Although why DRW-GUM is beyond me....
Why not, CNS-GUM is quite popular with the tourists and is an alternate way for Asian traffic to visit and of course CO hub out of GUM.
I thought CO were having trouble making this route work?
Happy to be told otherwise...

Perhaps they will operate GUM-CNS some days and GUM-DRW other days, thus giving a choice for minimal additional costs to them (obviously need ground support etc in DRW).They have been happy with it since the increase in flights 4 years ago, but maybe they feel that DRW will offer less competition for their Japanese traffic compared to JQ in CNS?

Not sure whether there are still some US Marines in town but there was some kind of Naval exercise recently which involoved US Marines on Australian Navy ships and given that there's a US Base in Guam a charter would probably be the quickest way of getting them home.
You can always go for a walk down Mitchell St and see who is drunk at 7PM, thats a good way of working out if there are any US Military personnel in town![]()
Looks like its more to do with the marines than a possible testing flight, the 738s originated from Iwakuni, and a Southern Air 743 was due in at 0300 this morning as well from Iwakuni.
3 windows on the upper deck would make it a -100.That would explain an all white B747 taking off this morning around 0800 although I thought it was a 100 or 200 series. It had 3 windows upper deck though.

Makes sense. They are a freight company, with freighters, so window count does not work I am afraid, they dont have any 100s in the fleet, I suspect it may have been a 742:

Makes sense.
If that was the actual plane, they've painted over the livery on both the fuselage and tail as it had zero markings on it - well on the left had side anyway, as I saw it taking off on RW11 so I didn't get to glimpse the right hand side.
I think it was the 743 you saw, just from the port side:

The starboard side has a different look with more windows:
