Bed bugs result in cancelled QF6

… they discovered the bedbugs on the SYD-PER sector and then removed the seat covers in Perth before continuing to Rome.
It may need more than removing seat covers. Bed bugs can be very hard to eliminate, hiding in cracks/crevices.

They also removed and replaced the carpets in the affected section.

It is also not inconceivable that bed bugs are also present on other aircraft whatever the airline

This may have been based on a misapprehension that bed bugs need soft materials to hide in.
They can and do survive on hard surfaces.

They need to bite and suck blood from mammals to survive, and, in particular, to lay eggs.
Their bites are so irritating they are unlikely to go unnoticed.
So it seems unlikely they could infest an aircraft for long undetected.

Far less thrilled to be flying per-cdg in a few months time now on a 789. The second occurrence of this is awful PR for QF. If it’s the same plane as the first time this happened on the FCO flight after their big claims of “deep cleaning” they have also burnt trust - how are we to believe that their deep cleans worked now? I’m generally a qf enjoyer but this is actually moving the needle a bit for me.
