It has been speculated over the years with close AA and QF codeshares etc but they also have an obvious connection with AF, as well as DL (both ST members).

PSA: Air Tahiti Nui is currently spruiking ~$1150 return fares in Y (~$2250 in PY, ~$4000 in J) from Sydney to Tahiti for travel through end of March 2027, including over Christmas and Easter.

I've been paying attention as French Polynesia has been on the bucket list for a while. The new nonstop flights had been pricing around $1800-$2000 in Y since the route was announced so this is a significant discount. In fact I can't recall seeing anything below about $1600 via AKL on NZ or QF/TN at any point I've looked in the last few years.

Like others I worry about long-term viability of this route so we've pulled the trigger and booked a 10-day trip over Easter next year.

It’s a slow process clearing Customs. The upstairs area adjacent to the lounge is quiet versus downstairs where flights depart

The outdoor cafe inside the international zone is a sweet touch !

Has AFF sought clarification from QF why they have imposed these draconian rules contrary to normal QF codeshare access rules (at least in SYD and AKL)?

We’ve flown LA (QF code), FJ (QF code pre OW) etc and never had a problem accessing the F lounge as OWE.

SB is another I’ve done - no issue. EK is obviously covered by the QF/EK agreement.

Officially the Qantas website says, on the Gold member benefits page:

Enjoy access to loungesΩΩ when travelling on a Qantas, domestic Jetstar, Emirates, China Eastern or oneworld® member airline operated and marketed onward flight, regardless of your class of travel

So, yes to lounge access on codeshares operated by oneworld airlines, Emirates or China Eastern.

There have been reports of no lounge access in Singapore on QF codeshares operated by IndiGo.

The Aircalin partner page on the Qantas website does indicate that lounge access applies on codeshares in Economy:

As above, I’ve had no issue getting into the QF SYD F Lounge before flying QF codeshares on SB, LA and FJ (pre OW), as well as EK.

Again, presumably AF/KL codeshares out of SIN (and HKG?) get into the QF lounges with QF status?

The 6E carve out in SIN just sounds dodgy, as does the TN carve out in SYD and AKL if QF are taking your money (marketing the flight).

I get the seperate pitfall flying whY on reward flights (ie native codes). That’s always a “buyer beware” scenario.

It is a very poor policy that catches out a lot of unsuspecting people, who end up with a very sour taste after going to the effort of booking with Qantas. If anyone from Qantas is reading this, I would encourage them to reconsider this policy.
