Actually vehicle fires are “relatively” common to fire services much more than many people realise with over 3,000 per annum in NSW alone.

EV fires are extremely rare and are expected to become even rarer now that LFP batteries are replacing NCM chemistry in many models

I don't know about many of the sentences being 'similar', but any similarity probably derives from the fact that both stories refer to and take material from the Zeekr statement.

A bloke I know had someone drive into the size of his Ioniq5 at a pretty low speed, he said the outer door skin would have needed replacing (that's the metal which is so thin on modern cars that it flexes when you wash them - a shopping-trolley dent can make it need replacing) but that the door frame was unaffected & the damage got nowhere near the body of the car.
And yet the insurer took nearly 3 months to decide they were going to write it off & replace it with a new one. fortunately he had a variety of old & fun cars to squirt around in.
Repairers & insurers don't really quite know what to do, they look at it & can see there's almost definitely nothing major wrong and they don't really want to pay-out so much money BUT because they don't really know, they're procrastinating for months longer than they would with the technology that's been around for a couple of centuries, and eventually giving-in due to the risk caused by having zero idea.
