Change to Qantas Lounge Pass Transfers Effective July ‘26

Not really. In addition to PC, I also receive lounge passes from CC provider, and Q as PS.
Curiously though, passes received from Q as a PS are not explicitly called out. Likely just the poor wording, but at face value, it would suggest that those passes are exempt from the new rules as only PC and CC have been called out.

Agree this does somewhat devalue the QFF CC benefit. I'll revert from Gold to Bronze (unless QFF soft land me to Silver, which I doubt as I'll not have reached actual Silver qualification by the end of my QFF year this year despite a previous mega-year). I was planning to gift my CC lounge passes to my kids to use later in the year for their travels, as I can't use them as my local lounge is currently not accepting them due to the network refurbs as mentioned above.
It was a great thing to be able to gift, whilst having status, but now pointless, given I can't even use them :(
VALE Gifted Lounge Pass - you brought much happiness pre-boarding. You will be sorely missed 😭

You could be right @DejaBrew
I’m sure Q will spell this out more clearly before implementation 🫣

My wife has been getting passes for years from CC's & PC. The only time any have been used is when I flew alone to Melbourne in Y for the boxing day test.

Normally we travel together domestically in J if reward seats are available but sometimes I wind up in Y if only 1 reward seat. No need for a pass then as I get guested into the J lounge. I hope QF doesn't follow VA in not allowing J passengers to take a guest into the lounge.

How long before guesting lounge entry for Gold members becomes a 'same flight' restriction??

Qantas definitely looking to crackdown on lounge overcrowding or is it part of the push to focus more on status credits than points. Generally, anyone with status would already be using their guesting abilities over a lounge pass unless travelling with larger groups.

In my use case it now makes it useless to hold the Amex QF Ultimate card as a Gold, given that my lounge passes were often transferred to my wife on the odd occasion when she would travel separately or to a mate. Looks like a great time to me to finally change my credit card.
Definitely devaluing CC offers, passes from ANZ and AMEX are just treats to give away to family and friends for me with PC+

This will make me rethink my credit cards, as a Gold (and previous Platinum) I used to gift the vouchers to family and friends when they went on holidays, sometimes as Christmas or birthday presents for them.

I suspect Qantas will come out soon with clear comms, poor form on their part knowing this would cause a storm. That benefit has lost a lot of value with this change, such a shame.

Can't transfer invites anymore except traveler on the same flight?
This seriously limit the use of lounge invite for gold and platinum who can already guest their +1 plus kids on Qantas operated lounge. Not impressed with this change.

This is a major loss personally for me and my family. I have on several occasions gifted lounge passes to my parents and in-laws when they have been jetting off on their own international adventures. I have also greatly appreciated the AFF community and their generosity especially on one occasion when my lounge pass expired a few days prior to my wife's flight and I was able to swap with another member here.
There will be no more opportunities for this kind of flexibility.

I'm not sure why Qantas think this move is necessary.....?

Are lounge passes useless if I am Qantas platinum and whoever travels with me would already have lounge access, unless I need to go beyond the limit?

Yes. I am in same boat. I usually TF lounge passes to family / friends so they can access the Qf lounges by themselves. I have also given away quite a few here on AfF that were close to expiring. Sadly Qf is removing this benefit!

I've previously given them away to family, friends and on AFF. Had too many passes at one point due to CC churning.

I actually wonder if it makes sense to devalue the passes to the point where they're worthless. Maybe this will reduce their value for credit card companies in the long run.

Welcome to the VA world - VA passes have never been transferable but would be handy for me as a Plat to guest in a 4th person (lol - that’s never happened).

Its a major devaluation for status members and QF Club members who don’t regularly travel with many companions, or guests in colleagues after conferences/work meetings who may be going to a different port to you.
