The view or two from my "office"

This morning I was on the first train through the Metro tunnel from Sunbury.

I travelled from Sunbury to ANZAC Station. The train was packed. People at stations en route couldn't fit on board. It was a fun atmosphere with cheering as we went down into the tunnel just after Footscray station.

The trip home reminded me of Melbourne trains of old. The train was 30 minutes late arriving at ANZAC Station. Then the doors weren't opened and eventually it left without taking any pax! Still, that's why they do soft openings. Fix up the problems.

The train from Sunbury was first in the tunnel with the train from the east entering a few minutes later.

Awaiting our Qantas Link (VH- 4A) flight to Canberra from Melbourne and something landing in the background.

At least 10 minutes late and have to get to cattery by 5:30 to collect the boy, so hope the plane makes up time.

The airframe of a Vickers Vildebeest Mk III, one of the bombers used by the RAF and RNZAF in WWI, being restored. This was found during excavations of part of the airfield after it was sold to private enterprises. There aren't any existing designs of the mk III so they're restoring it by basing it on other Vickers models.

A Hawker Siddeley Andover C.1, one of the main transport aircraft used by the RNZAF in the 80s and 90s in its Middle Eastern and Pacific engagements.

There was a Hercules that arrived earlier this year after retiring from service but it's sadly not on display yet due to lack of exhibition space.
