I am thinking of booking this "hacked" itinerary in business class for my family:

NAN-SYD-HKG-YYZ-HKG-SYD-NAN

The NAN-SYD-NAN legs are operated by Qantas
All other legs are operated by CX.

The last arrival in SYD is technically a "stopover" of several months.

If you finish in Sydney and then no-show for your last leg back to Fiji,
(1) Would an airline ban you, and if so, which airline? Qantas, CX or both? Or Fiji airlines?
(2) Would they wipe all your SCs and frequent flier points?
(3) Has anyone here tried this?

Just trying to rustle up any precedent.

Surely if you “get sick” and “can’t make it” and call them to tell them you “can’t make it” … they aren’t going to re-book you on the next available flight, in J for a whole family, at their cost, when you are the no-show?

*edit*
I assumed a “stopover” in Sydney … ie. the final flight to NAN not being immediately after your flight to SYD meaning you’d normally be leaving the airport in between anyway.

To avoid any confusion, my family intend to end our trip in Sydney (home) and not go back to Fiji a second time. (There is some chance I, individually, may do so myself.)

Don't make a habit of it but shouldn't have any issues. With a stop over of months there is no risk as already mentioned people miss flights often.

Your luggage will be through checked to NAN
No, OP says there’s a “stopover” in SYD, so not in this scenario.

Personally, I’d use that final leg with a seperate reward flight NAN-SYD later on.

How much cheaper is this fare ?

"How much cheaper is this fare ?"

Less than half the fare from Sydney to Toronto, and closer to a third.

I don't have the problem taking the last flight. It's the folks who wouldn't be interested in visiting Fiji a second time.
I've missed the final sector of a AKL-SYD-x-MEL-SIN-LHR-MEL-AKL routing
How long ago? Did Qantas/Air New Zealand give you the strap?

I'd say do it. Things happen for a reason, and if someone genuinely can't make the flight due to illness, they can't be penalising him/her/the family.

Different scenario to booking two connecting flights and skipping the last one. The long stopover should substantially reduce the risk. You’ve travelled on 5 of the 6 sectors already.

I’m willing to be Dr Cam Jr, and take that J flight as one of the kids, if it helps!
I’ll be super convincing!

Given the stopover in Sydney, one would collect bags anyway

It’s the kinda hidden ticket gig

I was in Fiji mid September. I would be inclined to agree that a second visit to Nadi is problematic but given the “masterclass” learnings this is a beauty and well done for havin a crack at it!

How much cheaper is this fare ?
Substantially

It’s a similar story to the get yourself to Jakarta, BKK, coughet or Manila story of heavily reduced J fares

You can actually book this fare online without stopovers via the CX website. There’s also FJ Direct to LA

Ticket issued by which airline? CX QF FJ.
People miss flights for all sorts of reasons.

I can see the fare on Skyscanner for random dates but can’t look deeply at the moment on the CX website - I’m out and about, but is the return “stopover” free?

If you can get two free or cheap stopovers in SYD, then that’s a cracker - if you don’t mind going to Fiji twice.

Nest it with a seperate SYD-NAN return (points or pay).
