Only 2 pax in F on 238 this morn - 1D & 1F vacant - I am in my go to seat on 777 which is 1C:



Note the J cushion? It is listed in my profile to replace the ‘brown leather rocks’ that masquerade as cushions in F on 777:



No sooner had I thrown 1C rock over into 1D that LSS Karen fronted up with the J cushion - that’s the level of service that sets SQ apart

And of course with 1D vacant you take advantage to store your personal items there also

Well let’s do it step by step - Lounge - SKL F MEL for me is Ike a second home - SQ staff on duty know me, Lounge Manager Peter knows me, Lounge Staff know me - they know what I want for b/fast so no need to even order - and I know many others hold a negative view of SKL F MEL - but it is small and oh so personal so IMO way better than any EK Lounge.

Intial treatment onboard I have kinda addressed up-thread - bear in mind I actually hold ZERO status with SQ - I am the lowest of the lows - yet a bit of interaction with Crew as you board SQ and you are the ‘King of all Kings’s



Now as for Champs? What can I say other than ‘KRUG = King of Champagne's’ V Moet Dom - OMG that’s like pitting me against penegal or boomy in a charm contest - total non event

Wines SQ V EK in F? Just no comparison - EK are miles in front - this is mainstay of SQ R and F offerings ex AU for last few months:

Hang your head in shame SQ - to ever suggest that O’Riada Shiraz is worthy to offer in a first class cabin is just a disgrace

Food? Again given the extensive menu EK offer in F they are again miles in front of SQ - yes SQ BTC opens up a far bigger range of offerings but I kinda get tired of making decisions days in advance what I want to eat.

Today on 238 I had beef tenderloin but chose that solely because I didn’t rate the in-flight menu - but it was quite good:

But still most important is the Crew - YES First Class pax should get stellar service regardless which carrier - but IMO SQ Crew and a level above:

Lounges? New TPR certainly doesn’t the old school ‘clubby’ feel that old TOR but it has certainly grown on me over the years - and after comparing that to the EK barn in DXB 2 weeks back this is certainly an oasis

For those passing through TPR just a heads up.
I was looking forward to trying the lobster laksa this morning, but alas the menu has changed and it’s no longer on the menu. I asked about it and the staff said the menu has changed for Singapore’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Seems like a downgrade to me !

They were able to get me a laksa from the first lounge, but it’s rather similar to the one from the J lounge…



Edit: ah, just realised the new menu has already been posted above ! But my comment still stands, seems like a downgrade to me

Some SQ F food photos, not a single dish I didn’t enjoy Won’t bother with staples like satay and caviar but what is with Ketel One being the F vodka?!?! Was very jarring with the caviar…

On the other hand, between sq345 and sq217 I got through 4 bottles of Krug just on my own!

First 2 are lobster salad and patagonian tooth fish:

Caviar is supposed to be consumed with vodka according to the russians/whichever country claims it to be theirs.

I dont like straight vodka so I ate mine without it.

Not sure if it compliments it or just used as an excuse to drink

Ah was remarking about the (low) quality of the house vodka on board though when the whiskey is JW blue?

Probably a nothing-burger but for those who fly to and from MNL, they revised the following flights:

• SQ914 SIN-MNL - original departure ex SIN was 0655, now changed to 0740 and original arrival was 10:20, now 11:25
• SQ913 MNL-SIN - original departure ex MNL was 13:05 now changed to 12:45 (no change to arrival).
