Perth to Johannesburg Direct with Velocity Points, SAA

Hi everyone, I'm trying to book a direct flight from Perth to Johannesburg via SAA on January 12, 2026 using velocity points. Everyone online says you will have to call to get these reward seats. I have called a few times this week and every time they say there are no reward seats available. People online also say if you keep calling they eventually get them to you. Does anyone have a similar experience? What are the chances they are out of economy reward seats and will there be more available in the future for this flight?

Try looking on another airline site like United that shows SAA reward seats online. The closest I can see is the 18th January on the direct PER-JNB flight, and hopefully Velocity has access to the same

Thanks for looking, I see those now aswell. I'm new to rewards seats, do you know if there is a decent chance they will open up new rewards seats for the January 12 flight?

Reward seats on most ex Australia flights over the Xmas break can be harder to find than 1oz gold nuggets.
