Strategy to obtain US Amex

Need advice re. first Amex via GT and what US address to use (I have an old, inactive one).

I have

• Amex Velocity in AU (1 year renewal in 10 days, so need to do GT before that), and
• Capital 1 banking account with an address in California (my sister’s old address)

Now, as my sister has left the US and moved back to AU, I can’t access any mail there.

Should I

1. Do Global Transfer and specify my old US address (which is on my Cap1 bank statements) and when the US AMEX card can’t delivered, ask them to redeliver to AU, or
2. Purchase a GlobalMail account for a new US adress, update on my Cap1 account, and use this new address for GT in 10 days?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

I'm pretty sure Amex is unlikely to deliver your first US card to Aus...

re HSBC AU - while I don't know if it's going to happen, I caught up with a mate of mine who is a private banker with HSBC. He reckons the AU operation isn't going to be sold as HSBC has invested in it for the year ahead. It potentially sounds like a BAU strategy to me but just putting it out there given it's been a topic of some speculation in the media and therefore on AFF.

I dont think Amex Velocity can be used for GT. Correct me if I am wrong but upthread I read and just Amex cards can be used for GT.

To my understanding, if you get a straight accept on a card application its available, if there’s any manual intervention or review it’s not

No FICO on my HSBC statements - do you know how long you had to wait for it to start appearing?

1st Statement is July and Aug 24 No FICO, until Sep 24 Statement started seeing FICO

Nova Credit can be based on history - but need to have an ITIN - if you have that you are good to go

The Amex Velocity card is a direct Amex card - what makes you think it couldn’t be used for GT?

could you just open a free Amex card? perhaps some can comment on the cheapest Aust card that qualifies for GT.

Attempted my first Chase card today, tried CSP

After completed all the details, this message pops up

We have an update after reviewing your credit report
We cannot provide you with a new cardmember bonus because of the number of credit cards you`ve recently opened.

It did provide me with two options
- Continue my application without the bonus
- Do not Continue

Has anyone seen this before? This is my first ever Chase application.
It seems I am still in the 5/24, but Chase just would not give me the sign up bonus, looks like I am in POJ, but the chase version



I did have an amex hilton aspire applied about 2 month ago.

You didn’t go ahead with the idea of applying for more than one or two Aspire cards? Only asking, because those sorts of things may be having an impact.
