Which lounge is Qatar going to use in Melbourne Airport. Will it be Emirates or another.

Still waiting for an answer, also ;)

I'm going in april from Europe to Melbourne, and I'm so exited, so I want to know all before

So, which lounge is Qatar using in Melbourne? Any idea?

Thanks a lot

I imagine (looking at the list of lounges) that they would most likely use the United/Air NZ. There's too much competition with Emirates to make that a happy relationship, no way would it be Qantas and Singapore tends to be reluctant opening their lounges to other airlines...

I've heard Qatar is using TG Lounges in Asia and also LH Lounges in Germany, why not Qantas in Australia? Or maybe CX (there is one at Tullamarine)?
QR is a Member in the *alliance, with Qantas, Cathay Pacific and Air NZ and also United.

One of them they can use, but which one?

QR is not a member of * alliance either! UA is a partner in QR's "Privilege Club", although IIRC, UA's lounge is not open at the time of night QR leaves - so I guess it would be an expensive exercise to open. That would leave QF, CX, MH and NZ lounges as options (can't see it being EK or SQ). I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was the MH lounge.

I emailed Qatar Airways through their website asking about the lounge in MEL, as a prospective buyer, but they never responded, showing how much they care!

As an update, they did respond eventually, sending me a link to their premium terminal spa offerings in Qatar presumably, yet Melbourne isn’t mentioned once on the page and even with the language barrier, I mentioned Melbourne a few times, so they should have picked up on it. I never once mentioned spa.

Did you try calling one of the local (Melbourne) numbers listed on their website? They may (or may not) have the answer - probably greater chance than someone in Doha knowing.

I don’t really care so someone else might like to try that. I’d have thought that they might be able to actually help with my query or point me in the right direction, not completely confuse Melbourne for Spa. :p
