Sick pilot unable to help land Qantas jet at Perth Airport

Before we all hoe into nonews about qf-bashing (no-one has yet but before that happens), the pertinent question to me is:

Was the captain fully fit on departure from ADL. If so, then it's not news (pilot becomes unwell, copilot lands plane safely - that's part of the reason there's two pilots!).

If he was not 100% fit when leaving ADL (bear in mind it's only a 2.5hr flight), then QF will have to find some answers.

And remember that the First Office is fully qualified to fly and land the aircraft. Sounds like all done by the standard procedures for such a situation.

Big News??? Co-pilot "forced" to land the plane?

Umm.... isn't this sort of why you have 2 qualified guys/ gals up the front of the plane? (Must have been a slow news day.)

No just a another chance for nonews to poke qantas...

I probably wouldn't be having a go at nonews over this one, except for the fact that on their front page the head line is "Sick Pilot unable to land QANTAS plane" and then they have a link directly underneath called "Passangers told to pray" which was referring to a completely different story, but included in such a way that people could think that it was Qantas pax who where asked to pray, not Aseman Airlines pax.

Complete unrelated, but I love this comment at the bottom of the story:
This would never have happened in Top Gun. Maverick would have just kept flying. Why can't the Qantas pilots harden up?
:)

Yeah, poor journalism and sensationalism at it's best.

I guess he could have resisted the "force" for a while, but eventually he would have been "forced" to land.

Glad you understand the gravity of the situation.:lol:

Just checked out the story and it had a link to "Qantas bans booze in WA, blaming drunken miners"

Now were they trying to allude to something there........:?:;)
