Expedia/Zuji drop fees on travel bookings

As some have mentioned the web sites have always been a great too for comparisons. I've had a few instances that a hotel/car package was much cheaper on Expedia. However I was fortunate enough to be travelling (for work) through the area we were going to holiday in (Santa Monica) so I dropped in and had a look at the hotel that was being offered. Suffice to say we booked elsewhere.

My take on it is the more experience you develop in using their sites the more you can get out of them. I guess like regular travel agents some charge a service fee and some don't.

I'm booking a lot of accommodation in Canada and USA with Expedia and one thing that's great is not just that you see the cost in $A but the exchange rate seems to be very advantageous - just booked Disneyland tickets and when I worked back the cost to $US I got $US0.86 to the dollar. If that works out to be the final price then there's an additional saving due to the fact that many (if not most) credit card providers charge an additional 1% on foreign exchanges after their sometimes coughpy rate.

I used webjet once before but didnt find it much good. They advertised cheap flights, but the search tool didnt return any.

I find webjet really hit and miss, their search engine seems flawed and sometimes misses entire flights (with JQ mostly) and the cheaper QF flights sometimes don't pop up.

Good as a quick look to start but I always double check with the airlines own website then book with them.

use webjet a lot. only site I've found that's got all the domestic airlines and internationals to find cheapest fares. quick and easy, fee pays for itself. they send me all the sale offers all the time.

In case anyone is interested webjet does not sell LAN flights. I looked not so long ago when one of the Paypal 10% off offers were on the go. I could not find the flights so rang and they confirmed that they 'have made a commercial decision not to sell LAN flights'

That's weird. I suppose you made a "commercial decision" to not purchase from them as well - 2 can play that game!

Expedia are advertising that if they get 1 million hits to the site over the 6 week period, the deal will become permanent.

1.1 million now - as I've indicated earlier in the thread, I never doubted that they would get the required magic million!

I previously used Expedia for motels etc. without any problems, but never flights.

I have a trip coming up at the end of this year and have been looking for intra Europe flights. Expedia was the cheapest I could find (sometimes by only $1 under Zuji) even when using the BA website. Especially taking into account that my CC would have been billed in $EU for a direct booking with BA and then the associated cost the foreign purchase would add.

Expedia prices in $AUD, billed in $AUD and search engine and website just too easy to use.

They beat a sponsor on this site by @$100 AUD for an AMS to ABZ fare for 2 pax. And the same with a MAN to VCE fare. All these BA, not going to use the low cost airlines, BA in Europe is bad enough!

And the only place that saving can be is in the fees, because cross checking the ITA site everything else was the same give or take a couple of bucks.

Another cool thing was that within 5 minutes of completing the bookings with Expedia, the booking was on my QFF - "My Bookings" page.
