More coverage in the papers this morning:

"Anthony Albanese has refused to say whether he held discussions with Qantas boss Alan Joyce over the blocking of more flights to Australia from Qatar Airways..."

"The suggestion from Mr Albanese that the Qatar Airways application was rejected because of concerns the airline might misuse its market power follows a series of other reasons presented by the government."

So I think we are up to seven reasons now. Or is it eight?

This PM has an increasingly loose connection with the truth, only last Tuesday he declared that it was the decision of the Minister and he and cabinet was uninvolved.

He emphatically denied it

"I received no lobbying from Qantas on this issue," the prime minister said during Question Time on Monday.

Ok, Qantas did not lobby him.

Did any individual at Qantas? Did he seek out Qantas for their position instead of the other way round?

Sorry but the quite you provided is not an emphatic denial of an "arrangement"... Just one of the ways it could've been discussed.

Time will tell. Can't mislead Parliament but even that line gets crossed in word games these days. Even the definition of "lobbying". Oh, you mean that coffee catch up I had with Alan?

Would it be fair to say this PM demonstrates an appreciation for the abstract, he seems to dislike being fully across major issues, but he is strong in arguing the toss after the event. And the ineptitude displayed by a number of his ministers is starting to wear the public's goodwill down.

I know most here loathe Qantas, but this decision is soley on Government it's hilarious to attribute any blame on Qantas when they are not empowered to determine policy. They can lodge an objection as can any other company or idividual but the government has the power to ignore such requests: and also consider abhorrent actions of Qatar against Australian travellers.

Qantas has many many problems to address and actions to atone for which are well known, but government policy isn't one of them.

Why would she disagree? That would be a poor move.

The minister is already free to disregard the objection if they can justify giving Qatar greater access.
