Physical QFF Card Not Working

Interestingly my membership year ends June and I got a new WP card in the mail a couple of weeks ago without requesting it — the first time I've received a card when retaining status since the pandemic started. I don't use Qantas Money - it's activated but $0 balance and hadn't received any messages about the card being faulty either - it just rocked up.

Having QF Money active is usually the key to getting a new card. I’m expecting a replacement myself in the coming days.

I have cash in my account and it expires at end of August, QFF card expired end of April. I've received nothing.

Presumably you can get that money out at a local ATM before you travel? That’s how I took money out. Cash I point on to get some bonus points. I’ve never used the card in anger purchasing stuff in foreign currency. Terrible rates.

Personally, I wouldn’t be relying on QF money card OS - it’s not that good (like most/all travel money cards).

Standard package dated 05Apr23 "Congratulations you've flown with us enough this membership year to retain your Platinum membership" received with new card. WP expires Apr 2024 / MCard expires 08/24

Agree on all that. I only activated the money because I thought it would get me a new card! That worked well for me 🤣. I like ING even though it's now been degraded.

It’s possible your card got lost in the mail? Perhaps take out the cash and the report the current card Lost?…

I'd say that's certainly a possibility but husband has same expiry date on QFF and also received nothing. But he didn't have money on the card.

Might try the Lost option. We are off to Bali in two weeks and getting F access in Melbourne won't be the issue and Jetstar on way back with no lounge (it's a miserable one in DPS so no loss) but would like a physical card for big trip in December. We had to negotiate our way into a lounge in UK as the lounge dragon wanted to see a physical card even though Emerald was on the ticket. I'm a bit wary now.

SYD+1 hasn’t received a physical card for years (never activated QF money).

If flying out of LHR T5, just go to the First checkin area and scan PP and BP. Plonks you directly into the First lounge after the dedicated security.

Last couple of trips, no one has asked for cards - it ought to be on BPs - as you say. Last time I was asked for a card might have been the EY F lounge in AUH (they had an habit of checking VFF cards were in date….). But that was several yrs ago.
 
Yeah, my new but now expired Jul 2023 WP card has a Nov 2023 expiry for the MC. I expect the new card (if it arrives) will be the same MC number with a Nov 2024 expiry (and different CVC).
@SYD if your card has not yet arrived, can confirm that MCard number is the same but CVC changes each year.
 
So ordered new card for husband online as he doesn’t have Money attached. Arrived in 10 days. Rang twice re mine that expires end of this month. Second call yielded results with express mail in 5 days. We leave for Bali next week.

Yes, I have a continuous set of cards with QF money MC. The earliest is a 2014 member expiry and every card since has been the same MC number but different CVC.

I haven’t received the 2024 Exp card yet.

I also received this email today. Like yours, mine says that I need to go to 'My Account' to order a replacement physical card. It won't be sent automatically.

I tried to order a replacement card via 'My Account' but I can't for the life of me find a way to do this. All I get is this screen:

but I DON'T want a money card attached. Like I said above, I ditched that years ago. Will I now have to go through the same rigamarole as when I first requested my card without 'Money'?

That’s the same as me. It’s the Money thing that causes it. You’ll have to call up.

It’s ok. All cards say that but doesn’t mean you have to activate it.
