I suspect I had a very serious panic attack just over 24 hours ago.

I'd taken 2 x Arthrexin 25mg capsules between 10pm-11pm. This is only the 2nd time I've taken these capsules. The last time I took them they were trying very hard to make me sleep but I go through it quite ok.

Not long after taking the capsules last night I had troubles breathing, my head was spinning and I was sort of sleepy. Immediately I thought this was a reaction to the capsules. So I thought best to lay down and sleep and this is where it got drastically worse. I had to get up. I sat in front of laptop but again it got worse.

I now started pacing up and down our small apartment. Extremely uncomfortable. Felt like passing out. Struggling to breathe. Now a severe headache/migraine too. Very stressed.

I took half a Xanax trying to relax. Nothing. Took 2 aspirin trying to deal with headache/migraine. Had another Xanax but still extremely stressed/agitated. Could not breathe. Kept pacing up and down. Didn't want to wake up wife as I didn't want her panicking. I was going to call mum but thought better not bother her. I'd almost called the ambulance 3-4 times as I was no condition to even sit in taxi going to hospital. Had some holy water. I'm running out of things to try. Xanax has not done anything. Headache/migraine gone but still getting serious head spinning.

Finally after about 90 minutes or do I managed to put head down and I think I fell asleep. I woke up 5:30am still highly agitated.

Went to doctor after taking daughter to school and told him my story and he says what do you want me to do. I didn't want anything. I think it's a panic attack. He agreed. There's not really much you can do.

By 6:00pm I was exhausted and fell asleep until 10:30pm. I'm still awake now. I'm still shaken. Something does not quite feel right. Still struggling to breathe. I'd forgotten just how bad panic attacks can get. I've been able to control the anxiety attacks but panic attacks are another beast. Xanax does not help. Valium may help but they take long time to work and I don't have any right now. Doctors don't prescribe them and I'm not seeing psycho* anybody. Need to get some Valium from Thailand next trip.

Time for some holy water.

Pneumonia for me unfortunately. Developed an annoying cough, small wheeze/crackle and runny nose about 4 or 5 days ago now. Things worsened over the last few days, constant wheeze and coughing, elevated heart rate and body aches, so took myself off to the ED. COVID, RSV and flu swabs all negative, but chest x-ray and elevated CRP suggestive of pneumonia. ED tried ventolin, but it only sent the HR higher. Ultimately started on doxycycline and amoxil, and back home now. I'm very cautious with these things given the heart issues a couple of years ago, but the emergency doctor said I made the right decision to come in and obviously have age on my side to help with the recovery.

Interestingly, feeling far worse with this than I did a year ago with COVID. The doctor was saying that every second patient is in with Covid, flu, RSV or pneumonia.

We are struggling here with the current lurgy, I have not had a flu shot and at 21 days it is still hanging around.
SWMBo with a flu shot has battled it off but today it is line ball call.
Similar acute symptoms to CC above , HR BS temp etc all through the roof for a few days.. all over now save a lingering mucus driven cough.
The bugs are getting better it seems

Seems that the Eastern states are being slammed at the moment with respiratory issues. Colleagues at work saying the same. Nothing much to report here in SA but likely that will change as winter proceeds.
Melbourne is a hot bed of viruses, many folk wearing masks, not sure of they have got a bug or like my cohorts, trying to avoid one!
Granddaughter got Covid last week, kid in the class came to school with it - more than half the class went down with it 🤧

Our Gp has reduced his hours which means appts are many weeks out, they also had a delay in obtaining the seniors flu shot.
End result is that when I did get an appt. I was just over the peak of this bug and uninjectable…
I may now wait until my next scheduled visit in 10 weeks and take my chances..

Husband does have a tendency to have respiratory issues. About five ...six years ago the GP gave him a script for codeine linctus. Oh my gosh it was wonderful for his cough. Since then the GP has been most reluctant to dispense. Till this week, husband saw GP displayed his cough and GP promptly gave him a script for it. Though considering husband is still waiting for a third specialist for his other issues maybr the GP just felt sorry for me having to hear the coughing and everything else . Though I daresay it is due to the uptick in these conditions this winter

Not just the Eastern States. Flu cases are up by 74% over the last week in W.A. The weather has been miserably cold and wet for the last week as well.

My daughter has been struggling with virus(es) for 8 weeks now. The latest is metapneumovirus. Think she picked up at kids birthday party.

Wife has had 2 bouts of virus in same time and latest is metapneumovirus. She is really struggling. Past few days she improved and then got worse again.

Me I must be extremely lucky. Immuno-compromised and have avoided getting sick.

I really don't care what people think. I wear a mask indoors when I am out and about. Small price to pay to avoid getting sick.

Apparently I have signs of hernia.

I'm not sure the signs should have been clear to me. Extreme pain in groin/pelvis but that could be due to any of the 7 arthritic conditions and that pain has been there on/off for 40 years. No bulge or swelling that I can see. No vomiting/nausea. Occassional bloating. Sharp pain in inside thigh and recently getting worse could have indicated hernia but I would never have gone there.

Not what I need with everything else going on. Now to find out the severity.
