Always a highlight of every trip to China is the fabulous array of delightful foodstuffs on offer.

No more so than this exquisite culinary delight at breakfast in Executive Lounge Jing’an Shangri-La Shanghai this morning:View attachment 327535View attachment 327536
I'm salivating. Had duck gizzards in China in 2015 along with other unusual delights. Absolutely sensational.
The best I can regularly get here is chicken feet or giblets and tendons.

See pic below - in Shanghai you will receive in change ¥1 coins - in Beijing you will receive in change ¥1 notes - no idea why and no idea where actual delineation line is - I know Nanjing also coins.

Shanghai subway tix machines will accept ¥1 coins - 5, 10, 30, 50, 100 notes - but not ¥1 notes - go figure

FWIW from July you will be able to link your foreign Visa or MC to WeChat to tap and go 👍 - not exactly sure of which date in July as yet

Alipay have also moved to permit foreign MCs to be used in Alipay Wallet - again not exactly sure which way i will go - need consult with my China based expat cobbers

Mrs Woodyren has been in China since we departed our Singapore cruises in June. We meet back in Singapore on Sunday for 24 nights of cruising to Japan and back.
We will then head to China together for what will be my first post pandemic visit. I have been granted a three year multi entry visa for the first time after a couple of two year ones previously. The last of which we never had a chance to use.
A few train rides are on the cards I hope. On our way home in September we will be travelling from Shenyang to Beijing on the newly opened direct line which reduces the previous high speed train journey from over five hours to a little over three.

Are they weighing your bags at station entrances? There is a 20KG limit on high speed trains that was never enforced on our many previous trips. On our last few pre covid trips we were pulled up and were overweight. (luckily it was at our local station and Mrs Woodyren knew someone who knew someone and a phone call sorted it out lol).
