SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

And the phone calls have started advising of F rdpt bookings for 2024 downgraded to J - will look at alternatives and have some vigorous discussions if reqd to get accommodated ex SYD

Edit: #1 - 40mins on phone with KF but we got there eventually - re-accommodated ex SYD day after original MEL - I will worry about ret later as it is still W/L - prolly book J ret to o/n in SIN as there is ample J Savers on all flts 👍

#2 - need more consideration on that as it is very flexible

Hey hey CE doesn’t whinge about R or F I just point out the deficiencies - if all 350 SH replaced with LH that is a positive - but post Nov 22 2 daily F cabins ex MEL reduced to 1 daily and it arrives into SIN after most EU flts departed - lunacy - SYD retains 3 R and F cabins daily - MEL schedule a real head scratcher. And the only F cabin to MEL retains same 07:45 dep SIN time which again means ZERO TPR time on EU return routes.

FTR flight / aircraft tables for MEL and SYD here:

Ironically SQ207/208 were the only flights I could book with F Saver. Don’t mind 208, timing is fine but 207 indeed leaves very little TPR time coming back from LHR (the other European destination with F Saver). Oh well, such is life you win some you lose some. I’m sure most pax actually prefer short connections.

It would be good if the endless shuffle of between both variations of the A350 would stop and the 777 to A350 F to J downgrades :(

If the 777x ever comes, SQ will have 31 of them, to replace 23 777-300ERs

The MEL A380 is going to the Auckland route :( over the NH Winter period

I'm booking some April flights soon and the lucky dip of equipment will continue until the NH Summer schedule comes out around October :(

In all sincerity I have never seen J pax permitted to use F WC on any flt on 777 - never.
I will be honest and disclose that I've frequently been invited to use the F lavatory when the J lavatory has been occupied on 777 flights. This is something that only the CS/CSS will permit and each time I've been escorted forward.

I think they only ever offer this to Solitaires as I think they are aware that the ratio of 3 for 48 J pax is not sufficient, especially pre-arrival on overnight flights.

Likely the reason they don't offer JimJams in J? But a BYO Lalique would work better as loo time reduced because less changing in/out of JimJams

Sadly PJ's were out to a tender process just prior to covid :(

There is a tender for "face towels" at the moment, not sure if that may mean the return of hot towels..... or it may be just the hand towels in the lavatory

No face towel or pre packaged towelette tonight on 321 out of LHR.
Also have only just been able to connect to wifi now just 2 hours out from SIN.

I am starting to think my MR points may need to find a new home.

We have been booked on this SQ212 flight for 5 months. Originally a B777 and received notification this morning that our seats have change due to operational reasons - obviously the change to A350. We are flying this leg in Y and had chosen exit row seats on the B777 - the B seat was exit row price but oddly the C seat was a forward zone and as a Gold KF was no charge. Just changed our seats to exit row on the A350 and had to stump up the extra $100+ for the
C seat. I have found the seats on the A350 not very comfortable in economy or business.

Still awaiting a response from SQ with regards to our confirmed and ticketed J seat LHR SIN SYD now showing as Waitlisted.

Starting to wonder whether the universe is telling us something.
Bazzi more info pls? Comm tix or rdpt tix? Seperate bookings each sector or both sectors on 1 booking?

I don’t have a contact for you in KF nowadays but I would be calling again and forcefully request they reinstate your J booking - I assume you have tix # from your original confirmed and ticketed booking.

if agent you speak to cannot confirm your W/L ask to speak to Manager - keep politely asking until you do get Manager on the line - don’t wait for email or call back responses you will need to be pro-active here.

I also don’t see why you should have been slugged for new seat allocation when change was necessitated by equip change - I would be demanding refund of that fee

I hope that means the little cotton squares for drying ones hands.
They have disappeared and been replaced with useless paper tissues.
I loved the cotton ones.
And so much more eco-friendly than paper.
I take them all home after drying my hands. Wash and re-use.

Great as make up wipes.
Or wiping down the guest bathroom after cleaning
Or as dusters
Or wrapping around tennis balls to stuff down just slightly-too-large downpipes during bushfires
Or wiping hands when painting
Endless

SQ is still the best of the bunch, with EK just behind but with a mis-match of equipment and some really dated J seats, SQ still wins

I was told coming over that jurisdictional issues prevent use of Wifi when overflying over certain countries
India pretty much is the blackspot...

Though at 20 minutes after takeoff from LHR I have always had wifi in the past. And that includes post Covid on the same flight number.

But an even bigger blunder at SIN. The airbridge was connected to the second door so F pax got off after most of the J pax.
But it got worse as when we got further along they had obviously opened the back door first and we joined the throng from Y.

I am sure a few of the regulars here would be a bit miffed.

And just for completeness the service was sub par.
