I tried, but was getting errors with the Cap 1 pre-approval tool. Was thinking that it could perhaps be because of my address? I’m using MyUS, although it doesn’t come up as a CMRA in the USPS checker.

I tried the C1 pre-approval tool, it keeps giving error on the address page. I'm also using Myus address . Error msg - We can't accept a non-physical address on a credit card application. Please try again using your physical address.

C1 won't accept MyUS as an address so that is your first road block. I think they have their own address list that doesn't correspond to USPS's list.

Re fraud detection, I think it's always good to have your first card forwarded if possible to avoid being flagged. I also make an obligatory call to tell them that I'm travelling for work and expect charges etc and ask whether there are any issues.

For my first amex card, I had it forwarded to Anchorage as I was visiting so that probably put me in their good books since it was still within the US.

As a rule of thumb, best to keep a 'standard' profile with your initial relationship with the bank and don't raise too many eyebrows that would trigger fraud detection.

Have you had cards mailed overseas? When I was last in the US, I visited a branch to present my ID as they had problems linking one of my business cards to my online login. Turns out I had 5 different Chase profiles!! I believe the reason was requesting new cards be sent to me overseas, but the very friendly branch banker couldn't say definitively. Hasn't been a problem for approvals though, only for backend stuff like linking online accounts.

I never asked them to send the card overseas. I could not create an online account myself though. Had to let them set it up on the phone including the business profile.

I have a layover in LAX overnight and was wondering if I should do anything that requires a US non-vpn IP? Like get Google Voice set up? Currently using Text Now with no issues for Amex and Chase but looking ahead to Citi and Cap 1 in around 6 months. I can't apply for any more cards at this point because I can't do more than 1 minimum spend.

I'm not sure. It just gave me an error when I submitted my details. There were many people who couldn't as well. One said he had to use VPN but it didn't work for me. One person was in the US and couldn't create it either. Not sure if it had anything to do with the phone number that cannot receive Chase verification text (like while on the call). It was wasy to let them set it up on the phone though.

You may want to contact the IRS to update your details. Who did you go with on Fiverr?

I faced the same issue as well(if you’re looking from IRS online portal) but when my physical mail arrived a month later, my address appeared to be correct.

So not to worry.

I applied via their IBC. Not sure if you can apply online or directly via the HSBC US site and still get reciprocal status.

Need to do through RM who put you in touch with IBC who complete process over phone with forms signed at branch .

I applied it online. The account was setup within 3-4 days. I was contacted once from a US based CC rep asking questions like source of funds, amount of first transfer and few other basic questions etc.
