Hi all,

Currently I have 2* QF award tickets to go to Europe and back in August. However, due to changes in situation I need to reroute my ticket which means total of 10000 QF points required for ticket reissue. However, I only have 219 points and could not purchase points. Is there anyway to get the tickets reissued without using points, or I can get 10000 points very quickly (without having to buying a ticket to do MR)? Any advice would be great ....

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Try calling them and ask if you can pay the reissue fee in cash.

I called Qantas. They refused to get the ticket reissued using cash. Must be in points. They did correct me though: the change fee is 2500 points per pessenger which makes it 5000 points in total, rather than 10000 points.

Unfortunately none of our credit cards allow transfer to Qantas anymore .... Anyone else have any ideas?! The trouble is I cannot even buy points myself ....

Thank you for the suggestion. I thought about it, but last time I think they have cleaned out their QF account as well ...... Any other options? The problem with signing up new credit card with extra points is that by the time the points posted it will be too late for me .....

It's going to be difficult to get 10000 points quickly.

The easiest ways:
* Find a 'relative' who has 10000 points spare and get them to transfer points to you.
* Use the "top up points" function on the Qantas website - note that this is a bad way to earn points from a functionality and cost perspective... also the website has some validation when you purchase points, so may block your request.
* Fly 10 (may be less of course depending on distance and class) flights on Qantas.
* Check the earning offers on qantas.com and find one that gives 10,000 points.
* spend $10000 on a credit card that direct credits to Qantas - or whatever amount gives 10000 points for that card. Then resell the items you buy on Ebay (refunding will not work!)

Maybe cancel the ticket you need to re route. Once the points are back in your account do a points topup, then re purchase.

Get a Woolworths Everyday Rewards card and link it to your QF FF account. Then purchase $5030 worth of something you will use in the future and is not perishable, such as laundry detergent, toilet paper, or any other product that meets your needs.

And as a bonus, get at 40c per litre discount fuel voucher:lol:

Do you have any Hhonors points? Priority Club points? Amex MR points? Not going to be very cost effective but if you are desperate for the points then

33,334 HHonors points --> 5,000 QFF points

25,000 Priority Club points --> 5,000 QFF points (can purchase 25,000 Priority Club points for USD287.50 = ~AUD383)

If you get really desperate then you can also try

1,000 Amex MR points --> 1,000 HHonors points
1,000 Amex MR points --> 600 Priority Club points

Purchasing points from Priority Club is probably the less painful option as it does not require a mileage run or a mattress run.

Not sure where you live so its hard to even offer you flight suggestions.

Fly somewhere; hire a car stay in a motel.

Partner Hotels - 1,000 points per stay* Conrad Hotels
Hilton
Hyatt Hotels and Resorts

Hire a car for 700 points per rental outside Australia. :(

Thank you for your ideas. Very much appreciated ....

1) My relatives would have points cleaned out as well. I need to check ...
2) Nope. I tried. It won't let me to do so unless I have certain percentage of points required for award.
3) Probably way too expensive and time consuming ......
4) I will check but as I mentioned by the time bonus points arrived I would have already flying and cannot change ....
5) Don't have CC with DC to Qantas anymore ..... again, it would take too long to apply then get it and spend $10000 .....

Great idea .... but then the problem is that once the tickets are cancelled the redemption seats may be taken away by the airlines (CX/AY), rather than released. The tickets are to Asia and Europe so I am not keen to do this.

Excellent idea until I realised that I am going to spend next 3 hours at checkout with like 10 trolleys of Woolworths goodies  .... Besides I don't have a truck to carry all the goods home ....

Actually would buying gift cards work as well? Not that I want to have $5000 gift card as I could just lose it :p
