So I am booked MEL-DOH (QR905) this Thursday 26 May. Qatar being Qatar there has been a number of equipment changes so I checked again this morning to see the latest seat map and it just came back saying you cannot select a seat until you get to the airport.
I logged into expertflyer and it is still the same aircraft but J is zeroed out and all the previous J seats that were available to be selected are now blocked. My selected seat says it is occupied (presumably by me). Y seats still available for purchase for this flight and the incoming aircraft is still scheduled so I know my flight hasn't been cancelled.
I have purchased an economy ticket for this flight and used Q credits to upgrade. I am now worried that Qatar has sold out out the rest of the business cabin a couple of days prior, possibly overbooked and I will be relegated back to economy.
Am I reading too much into this? Is it normal approx 60-72 hours before flight departure that J cabin gets zeroed out while they work out upgrades, etc before putting remaining seats back on sale?
*edit* something is going on since I posted this half an hour ago as all J seats are now sold well into next week bar 1 for each flight (they reinstated a J seat for purchase on my flight). Maybe cancelling a service in another Australian city and rerouting through Melbourne?
