COVID-19 and Tennis

ND had and still has, complete freedom of choice about whether to be vaccinated. But actions have consequences, even non-actions, and in this case the freedom that was curtailed was to pursue his sporting interest down under.
Yes completely understand there are consequences. I think the issue I have is whether a freedom of choice is really a choice at all where the consequences sought to cause detriment to someone's livelihood. Same goes for the vaccine mandates for workers.

Where one person’s choice can put other people at risk, the choices of the majority must win.

Don't think this reasoning really works. Take it to the extreme, a person with covid 'chooses' to be admitted to hospital, which puts the hospital at risk (as we have seen how in the earlier days when health workers got infected in hospitals), so does that mean we shouldn't admit that person because it's causing a risk to the people there? Since those earlier days, hospitals have put in risk mitigation strategies, which can also be applied to the tennis. The governments just decide not to do that.

Hospitals by their very nature are always a risky place. People still choose to work there. Their choice. All workplaces carry some level of risk. To mitigate risk to the majority, TA insisted all players be vaccinated or not attend. Businesses likewise to protect their workers. Choices. This has already been thoroughly discussed.

Despite all this controversy and what one may think of his personality, he is one of the greatest tennis players we have ever seen.
But, so what? He’s well paid…hideously so for someone who simply chases a ball around a court. He doesn’t get to be above the rules as well.

Funny how their freedom is important, but the freedom of others isn’t.

Where one person’s choice can put other people at risk
As the vaccination rates rise and as more data become available that show vaccinations do not significantly reduce transmission and as more people get immunised by the wild virus, it is becoming clearer that the unvaccinated are not posing a risk to other people.

While is true that significant proportion of the ones in ICU are not vaccinated and might therefore unnecessarily affect the availability of ICU/hospital to the vaccinated, the data is clear that the year on year mortality from any cause in Australia in the last 2 years of the pandemic has been less than the 2015-2019 years - especially in winter.
So I think the public health risk from the unvaccinated is currently being overstated.

There are also significant pressures on the health system from Non--Covid patients whose personal lifestyles and choices cause them to drain the health resources at a massive rate. These have not gone away because of Covid.

Increasingly it is "because I got the jab you must too" . Beware this slippery slope.

Vamos! Rafa!

Just politician speaking. Remember Macron who wanted to piss off the Unvaxxed French. He only did this when the Vax rate in France went into mid 90s.
Now france says NoVax can play?
I heard that he can't play in France and it was the Sport Minister who claimed he could. But new laws passed today suggest he can't.

Yes no issues in playing in the UK. You come over, you do your self-isolation and as noted you can test to release on day 5 if wanting to head out earlier.

There are services that the Government will provide to everyone even if it's their choice that lands them there.

Another question:
Belgrade Airport is named Nikola Tesla Airport according to a post upthread

But I thought Nikola T was born in Croatia?…
That part of the world is just lines on a map, constantly moving.

He was Serbian, but when he was born the empires of old were still around. Modern day Croatia now envelops his birthplace but at the time it was the Austro-Hungarian empire.
