Do you intend to transfer CC points to QFF in Feb or March 09?

i did mine over new years... thought may as well get it over and done with lol (nab card)

My NAB points will be transferred in Feb, but my amex won't matter..

Done it last December! I transferred my Amex points to QFF then transferred them to hubby's account (as he is a plat). He transferred all his points from CBA Mastercard to his QFF account - we saved these points for about 4 years. Then we used the pooled points to redeem a SYD-LAX-SYD Y trip for a young relative who travelled in January this year. We also used the pooled points to redeem a SYD-JNB-SYD J trip for us to travel later on this year :p

My plans are to transfer 0, Nil, None, Zip, Zilch.

My plans after "direct sweep" comes into play is to not sign up for any direct sweeps. (I have an Amex/Qantas card I sometimes use now. Not sure if I'll cancel it).

The Arrogance of the Rude Red Rat is amazing, and I'm not going to play their game.

Undecided where my points will go, but since credit cards now offer points to a multitude of airlines, will be doing my sums and choosing one.

Thanks Qantas!

Bravo Mal
i for one will wait until the last possible momment to see if they offer any specials if not then the world is my oyster

Zero. I transfer my points (Amex 7 Westpac) to SIA, a superior airline, and which also charges less points on redemption.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For my Amex MR points, both VS and SQ offer better value redemptions through their programs (on both themselves and partner airlines) than transferring to QF and in my assessment for domestic flights DJ offer at least equivalent value, so I will have nothing to do with direct sweep to QF and won't be transferring any of my points.

no red rat after we use up the points - NAB Gold Rewards wrote they were siphoning our rewards on 11 Feb but luckily we'll have enough points in qff for flights on the red rat. That'll be the last of qantas.

At this stage I have no plans of transferring any points to Qantas in Feb or Mar 2009. I have more than enough QFF points for 2 Oneworld RTW awards in my QFF account and there is no point in transferring more points to QFF so they can just sit there gathering dust.

I will take my chances leaving the points in my Amex MR account and decide where to transfer them if and when I need them....

IF I transfer points it will be in March. I'm currently erring toward not transferring them though :!:

I guess the issue with flicking points to SIA for hard core OW fliers like you and I is that you miss out on the soft (or indeed hard) benefits of being a status flier - especially if flying in whY.

The last I would want is flying for better value on SQ but getting stuck without a lounge, priority boarding etc... not such an issue for my parents who will be beneficiaries of my MR points as a free trip is better than no trip...

That is the risk that one would have to weigh up when making a decision to travel with another alliance. If travelling in WHY to/from major airports then theoretically one should still be able to get lounge access with Platinum status. If booking early enough one may also get a preferred seat pre-allocated or spend some extra money and pay for exit row.

If there is a significant saving in points required then one may also be able to travel in a higher class and get lounge access that way. Just looking at current SQ specials one would require 67,500 Amex MR points + taxes and surcharges for SYD-SIN-BKK return in business class or 41,250 Amex MR points + taxes and surcharges for a SYD-SIN-BKK return in WHY whereas 60,000 Amex MR points + taxes and surcharges are required for a SYD-BKK return in WHY.

Or SYD-SIN-LHR*/FRA*/AMS/MAN/FCO/ATH/CPH/ business class return on SQ for 112.5K with the current specials vs 128K in whY on QF (or for a treat 192K on an SQ A380 in J if you have that many pts)

* 747 flights

Not transferring anything to QF,never have done, never will do.
My NAB Visa points go to Velocity and as for Amex, well I've never bothered about MR,I don't use the card often enough to get any real
valiue from it.

"Time to Choose"

I've just noticed that QF are runnning the campaign "Time to Choose" on their website:
Frequent Flyer - Time to Choose
I suspect QF might be surprised by the number choosing not to to transfer to QF:shock::rolleyes:

"Time to Choose" is a political spiel well overused by politicians. Love the count-down clock too. Adds a classic "gotta act now" type effect. :)

I really do think Qantas is feeling some pain - hence the promotion that time is running out etc. My points are going nowhere, and direct crediting will not happen with my previously unencumbered accounts. I'm definitely not paying a fee every year/month just to see my points go off to Qantas.

None, my visa always has been direct sweep, my Amex i still have the choice (plat charge) and even then i mostly send to SQ since i earn QFF points from flying etc.
