Virgin has announced an increase in local destinations today. Thought I might have a quick trip from Bne to Darwin. Looked at Business redemption fares in
August. Wait for it - 800,000 plus points, return, for 2 pax. Looked at cash fares
only $4,400 !. Of course must be a mistake.

Are those rewards seats or youre buying a standard seat with points?

I wonder how much a $50 JBHIFI voucher will be on the Velocity store then when it FINALLY reopens?

5,000,0000 points?? 😂

I suspect there are hordes of people just waiting for the Velocity store to reopen, hopefully soon after Bain finally takeover and bin VA1, launch VA2....

Reward Seats.

At that price, they will be Any Seat rewards. You probably just picked days that don't have Reward Seat availability.

There have been no changes to Reward Seat prices. If there is availability, seats will cost 35,500 Velocity points each way (142,000 points for 2 passengers, round-trip plus around $200 taxes).

To give you a tip, try searching for flights one-way at a time. If you search for return flights but there is only Reward Seat availability in one direction, the Reward seats won't be shown at all.

Thanks Mattg. It appears that my dates have no reward seats.
But I am still horified at the cash price.

I can dream....we are locked up in WA.

For those of us 'locked up' or 'locked down' in Melbourne and Shire of Mitchell around Kilmore, we ca't even dream.

A nightmare with no end date in sight. (First World problems I know).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

a little somewhat clickbait and alarmist headline
Perhaps it was, but posted in innocence.
However just to update I did manage to book flights, but yesterday I was advised that the return flight, DRW to BNE on Sun 16 next was cancelled and replaced by a flight on Mon 17.
Monday has not been a flight day from DRW, and looking forward seems to be not available. So why only Monday 17 ?.
It has occured to me that as there are car races that weekend
and many would not wish to leave Sunday afternoon.
In looking at the Monday flight it is fairly heavily booked compared to Sunday's flight with business class fares increased by 50%.
Obviously a revenue decision by Virgin.
Not a great public relations exercise.
