It is still early days, but i find it interesting the contrast in public statements of certain experts and the official published figures.

Contrary to horrendous forecasts, initially at least, compared to previous years the level of suicide in AU has dropped by a third during the first half of this year.

From recollection, (and I'm definitely not an expert, but have had fleeting engagement with various experts on suicide prevention and attended several conferences on the topic over the years), there is a tendency for suicide rates to decrease during major crises - such as wars and the like, which runs contrary to what you would immediately think - but I guess people are focussed on the existential threat (and the community) rather than personal day to day problems. That doesn't mean the trend will continue in that direction once that crisis has passed.

All footage Ive seen on tv is of people waiting in their cars to be tested - what happens to people like myself who dont own a car? Are there not walk in cliniques anywhere?

Any Public Hospital will likely have a walk in COvid clinic that is external to the usual hospital entrance

I work in the field. Suicides are down. There has been a marked increase in severity of episodes and symptoms for many people that already had a preexisting moderate to severe illness. Won't make a comment about the worried well ie people getting stressed about their social status, no access to beautician etc....

I dont need a test, but it looks like if that changes in the future I would have to mask up and uber/taxi to get to one, as none in my suburn or immediate surrounding suburbs - closest is a public hospital that is 15-20 min drive away.

There are definitely walk in clinics around, I went to one in Melbourne.

Yesterdays lower Vic numbers probably more to do with the weekend than genuine reduction, given the numbers have increased again today.

1,803 active cases + 21,995 tests + ~66 recoveries + 13 hospitalised (85) + 10 ICU (27)

That is a lot in ICU now.

In the first spike peak ICU was 18. So 27 is a high number.

EDIT: While initially reported as 27, ICU cases are now showing as 26.

Yes in part (Sat to Sunday), which is why I also monitor the positivity rate. Today (which is Monday's data) the numbers were slightly less tests again than for Sunday, but with a higher infected rate. So the positivity rate is actually higher.

That is the highest positivity rate since 13th April, and back then who could get tested was much stricter and so with today's testing regime positiviity rate back then probably would have been lower.

The positivity rate is trending upwards (is accelerating) and that is not a good sign at all. To gain control you need for it to be decreasing.
