Can anyone confirm if VA are still publishing/printing their inflight magazine?

The link on their website still has the March issue (they usually upload the latest on the last day of each month or first day of the new month)

I thought the contents of the seat pocket, except the safety card, were generally gone now? Haven't flown so can't confirm.

It was in the pipeline for a while. Old boss Borghetti wanted it but in reality not having it saves some fuel cost for The airline

I have a March hard copy issue. Can't comment on April and onwards though.

A lot of the copies in the seat backs look so poor, anyway, either having had pages torn, or dog eared, or the crossword puzzles all done by someone, or the seatback bare without the mag, ie, someone had taken it.
Probably apart from fuel of carrying it onboard, they would save money not having to print the mag.
If VA survives, they probably would not bring the mag back, and we might have to do without a lot of the frills of the "former" VA we knew, from before Covid19.
If they do live on, I see a leaner VA.
Even now, with the lowered earn rate on VGW, they are saving $.
Maybe we will have to do without full catering for a while, or from now on, if VA survives.

My VA flight on Monday 6/4 had the magazine in the seat pockets.mine was in very good condition but i just went straight to the suduko and didn'y note the date of issue.

Do you remember if it had Tokyo on the cover?

I do remember when flicking through the pages I did see some pictures of cherry blossoms in Tokyo so it could well have been Tokyo on the cover but I don't remember the cover

I think the mags survive on the advertising only, so I would think if the airline comes back so will the advertisers.

This.

The magazine doesn't exist as a vanity project. It's a specific way to make money by leveraging the virgin brand and the person having to sit in that seat for probably at least an hour..

I've rarely found anything interesting in the magazine for years and even I still flick through it - so the advertising model does work.

QF have started mailing theirs to premium passengers. Wonder if VA will follow suit, could still earn them some $....

Cool. I hope I get one too. Would be a nice way to forget about this stuff. Plus I'm a tactile person.

I believe QF's publisher had already printed the April edition before they realised they wouldn't have enough planes flying for all those magazines. Beats throwing all those copies into the bin/recycling, I guess.

The QF wine voucher that came with it was a nice gesture too.

The Virgin mag isn’t being published anymore. Most recently it’s been published by Hardie Grant - the same people who do the Dan Murphy magazine. It makes sense that Virgin isn’t going to keep paying for content if there are no readers. But it also demonstrates the scope of Virgin’s influence. If Virgin goes down, it affects publishing companies and writers - not just Virgin’s immediate employees.
