Which AFFers are going on the fun run ?? ;)
Just told the missus that we're going for a long weekend in Brisbane to do just that!

I did the fun run on the other runway when it was first opened, when I was a kid. Alternatively, it's just an excuse to get out of CBR during winter...

Yeah, rescind that idea... as my wife helpfully reminded me, we're going to be flying CUR-PTY on that day. Sorta valid reason to miss the fun run. 😊

I don't suppose this will mean we might have more luck in getting more airlines with PE seats (W class) to fly out of Brisbane? We get fed up with trecking via Sydney if we want to fly eg Singapore Airlines PE to Europe.

That one is to Sydney. Back from Sydney (South Africa actually) early August. Then across to Adelaide and back October and Sydney again (Canberra) November.
From what ive read, unlikely to/from the south.

Quote "Once the new runway opens in 2020, Brisbane Airport will move to parallel runway operations. Generally, aircraft departing to or arriving from the west or the north will land and depart on the new runway, whilst aircraft departing to or arriving from the south or east will land and depart on the current runway". Based on this, one of the first domestic flights taking off from the new runway may be:
JQ to MKY departing 6:10
QF to TSV departing 6:30
VA to TSV or PER, both with a scheduled departure time of 8:40

What about EK431 at 02.50 to DXB ?

I was thinking before that it would be a looooong taxi, especially from International terminal to runway 01L. haven't checked but I'd guess they'd stick to the existing runway during quiet periods.

You’re forgetting that there has to be an opening ceremony first.....

Good to see it finished, pity it wont get too much usage for the next couple of months at least.

looking around out there last week and noticed no where for viewing take off and landings and also noticed the viewing area over at the old runway has been closed
