RE: the two app thing, I had a post about in November last year

Looking through Google Play yesterday, I spotted a "Velocity Frequent Flyer" app, which was released last month.

So now VA have two apps which do pretty much the same thing (they look very different though).

Reading some of the reviews and the developer replies, it appears VA is planning to do something different with the VFF app and I quote,

The Velocity App will become a loyalty focused App with features which help you to get the most from being part of our program. Hopefully once we have built some features it will become clearer why they are separate.

There are so many things that can be said about that developer reply.

So the VFF app has been out for a year and not much has been done with it, apart from this offering.

Off topic but is anyone else having issues loading their bookings on the Velocity app?

The bookings are available in the new velocity app however It is asking if the booking can be opened in Virgin Australia app.

Anyone else bumped up a tier?

My plan was hubby would make WP Dec 18th - but logged in this morning and new review date is Oct 10 and hes now WP (he was 36 SCs short). Even with the 10 + 10 family pooling SCs, he was well short of WP earn until Dec.

I thought of that but hubby talked me down so I redid some ideas for YR20 & YR21 requal, as he likes his black WP card.

First world problem. "Ive been forced to be Platinum and have 4 free upgrades and extra bonus points!" Although we didnt use the last lot of upgrades as the Freedom fare was more than buying J.

Given the closeness to 1000 credits and their tendency to bump early (I was a beneficiary when around 980 from memory), the status bump is probably more to do with proximity to Plat qualification rather than the promo.

Back in August, hubby was short by about 8 SCs and not bumped. Since then, SCs dropped off.

And his new date, being Oct 10th, wonder if the 10mil/10th of Oct (10) triggered a review.

I will have over 1000 SCs by early Nov but am trying to delay reaching Va Plat til late May 2020...so am not taking my 7th and 8th Virgin flight sectors til then. I hope they don't bump me up to Va Plat before I make the necessary 8 sectors on Va.

A bit OT, I didn't get bumped up as I am already WP, however I noticed that on the velocity website the status counter seems to stop at 1800 however the app keeps on counting.

This is the issue, the bonus points aren't for loyalty, they are a pure blanket promotion.

I'd like to see promotions along the lines of:

A) If you have 1 future VA based booking as at <date> you will receive 100 bonus points, if you have 2 future based VA bookings as at <date> you will receive 200 bonus points etc.
B) If you activate this offer today, all existing VA booking will receive 10 Velocity points per $ as a bonus

I guess it's seen as a costly exercise, but so would be the current offers. However, it is rewarding loyalty as for regular flyers it is a bit of an enticement.

It's probably a bit of a bad promotion as it is probably going to be a bit of a reflection of how active the user base is.
Though to Velocity it's the data of 10 million members which is the value. (If there **really** is 10 million, could be less could be more.)
