Thai Royal Orchid Plus major devaluation

Well 1 October has come and gone, and the Thai website has been updated with the new (much higher) rates as advertised.

I just dont understand this airline. what a mess. Well my agent did get it slightly wrong, the only reduction in points advertised for award tickets needed is if you dont stop in Bangkok. ie, the old system required 170K for a business ticket between Europe and OZ. the new revamped upgraded system we need circa 310K, but Im assured that if i dont stop in BKK its going to be 230K. I dont see it written so Im not going to believe it for now. In anycase Im looking for a new carrier. Just cleared a million points this week with award tickets, so sitting sweet for now. Bye Bye Thai

Thai has gone bonkers.

The worst redemptions for Star in the alliance.

When your airline loses money......loyalty can bail you out. Unless you screw down members hard (like Thai has done)

I booked BRU-MEL in TG business for my mother-in-law the other day, using 85k LifeMiles. It looks like that would have been 118k Royal Orchid Plus miles, comparable to KrisFlyer, but of course KrisFlyer would have allowed other Star carriers and/or offered pretty good availability on SQ.
