SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I am not sure if this should be posted here or in the Hilton thread, if exchanging Hilton points to KF miles the hilton site indicates it may take up to 30 days. Has anyone exchanged points between Hilton and KF and did it take 30 days or was it quicker.

We did a transfer from Hilton, it wasn't 30 days, but it wasn't quick at all!

An update. Rang again last night got same girl and gave up. Rang this morning and was told my SYD to TPE was 115000 on saver as they were charging me 2 one ways even though connection was less than 24 hours. This was despite last night quoting the correct 88000. Took @Cruiser Elite advice and demanded to speak to a manager. A "one time exception made".

So despite the drama my 1st SQ F is booked. Very happy girl here.

And the Manager told you this?
Not quite she told me herself that the Manager considered my case and decided to grant me a one time exception. Mind you the consulation with the manager took less than 2 minutes so I do wonder whether she reconsidered on her own.
Anyway I got my first F flight on SQ so for me that is wonderful so won't let the lacklustre booking experience spoil it.

Yep SQ IST-SYD and TK CMN-IST. Couldn’t get the website to bring up anything ex CMN. I was able to confirm availability by searching IST-CMN-IST as it showed the return for some reason. I was able to book SYD-CMN as a one way with a bit of playing, so maybe it would have worked as a return?

Taxes were 230ish SGD. 105 of that is a TK fuel surcharge for the CMN-IST sector.

For the SQ brains trust is SQ27 a fight that saver redemptions are difficult to come across or not released. SEA would be a preferred departure point, I have been checking however it looks like only Advantage gets released.

So you are the reason I could only see waitlist SIN-JFK in R when I did my weekly check at around 10:30 this morning? :D

Gotta set your alarm to get those R savers! :) You should have seen the panic in my face when I was having dinner with my +1 last year, and realised that it had been about 8 hours since inventory would have been released for our preferred departure date. Luckily, they were available.

But, when only waitlist was available, I've called before and asked for the waitlist to be cleared, knowing we were the only two on it, and there were still 10 empty suites. They asked if there was any special occasion or reason for wanting to clear the waitlist, said they would email the (insert job title here, inventory controller?) and I would hear back in 2-3 days. I received an email on my booking confirmation not 30 minutes later. Same with blocked seats (row 11 on a350), I called and asked for them to be un-blocked. Again, they had to email a seat inventory manager, and about an hour later had a "your seat change has been confirmed" email.

You've been luckier than I to get WLs to clear. I was completely unprepared a few months ago when the agent asked if there was a particular reason I needed to travel a week earlier and blurted that I had a wedding to attend. Not mine, but I should've said it was. Still no clearance. How did you know that there were x empty seats?

Yeah, we've been lucky. Trying our luck again just now... We will see how I go. I just called to change our flight from SQ36 (SIN-LAX in J on the a350) to SQ12 (SIN-NRT-LAX in F). All 4 sets are empty, but its waitlisted. Took a total of 3 minutes for her to make the change, and she said she will email the controller to ask them to release the waitlist.

but the card with the cake said happy anniversary, not congratulations :D they only just got engaged lol
Haha, that's hilarious. Something got lost in translation somewhere.
Regardless, a surprise cake is always welcome, regardless of what is written on it :)

Can again confirm 2 x R Saver 222 / 26 combo SYD-SIN-FRA-JFK achievable on a Monday - booked this morn as soon as inventory uploaded.
Shame that us MEL-based pax have to go via SYD to get Suites to the US, however it's a small price to pay to make one helluva long journey a pleasurable one.

How're you returning to Australia CE? Via JFK, EWR, LAX, SFO, SEA or otherwise?
