Have you noticed that when you get a targeted petrol offer from Velocity/BP or FlyBuys/Shell, first thing that happens is the petrol prices skyrocket ( from $1.15 to $1.55 per litre ).
If I desperately need to buy petrol during a high price period I obviously only put a small amount in. At the same time I won't scan my Velocity or FlyBuys cards because all you will be doing is telling them that you are willing to buy petrol for extra points no matter what the cost.

Certainly noticed with Shell/Coles Express - invariably most expensive in the market, but more so when a fuel offer is on.

The need to submit the paper voucher is infuriating too - why cant it save to the app. (Yes, the answer is because then there'd be more redemptions).

I've had fuel offers from both in the past when it was the bottom of the price cycle during the promotional period.

Couldn't agree more about those annoying thermal printed dockets that I have to keep somewhere handy. Half the time barcode won't scan and the poor operator has to manually enter the seriously long number.

I can't say I've noticed such a price fluctuations in the ACT. I get a fuel offer (usually something like 6c-10c/L or up to 20 points/L - my choice) at least every other week on a Thursday from Flybuys that's valid for the whole week. I'd say it's fluctuations due to market conditions and is a coincidence. It would make them very uncompetitive if there's another servo nearby.

The discounted price at the Phillip servo is always 2c/L less than the BP next door. So if there's a BP/Velocity deal on, and I don't have a Flybuys offer activated (I've always got a 4c/L discount available), I need to work out which deal I want more.

That’s why I stopped using Both providers. Besides the discount added up over 12 months is inconsequential

nope, and its really too easy to predict when Fuel prices are about to bounce so just fill up when that happens and ride it out as long as you can before filling again.

Most of the bonus points offers I receive have no minimum spend so I simply fill up a small token amount in order to earn X points...
