Interesting article in the Fairfax papers today: https://www.theage.com.au/business/...ers-credit-card-spending-20190211-p50x0j.html

So it'll be a 1.25 ppd earn like Amex?

I wonder if this is simply just trying to create a status symbol or if it'll be worth it. I can't imagine some lounge invites (which come with other cards) will be worth that much for the annual fee.

The 10% discount could be interesting, though with Qantas's taxes and fees it probably just brings them into line with the rest of them.

Who here is this? :D
@amaroo :) :).

The only way it would be marginally useful is using those bonus 20% SC instead of having to do a status run to maintain WP. Even then, marginal.

All the bonus points etc become pointless (pardon the pun) given the points earn rate drops at $12500/month. The card is aimed at someone who flies and spend a lot on QF. Those folk probably don't need the F lounge invites or bonus SC. Totally misses the mark.

with an annual fee over 1k without Qantas Club membership included.....
how it can compete with Citi Prestige or AMEX Platinum Charge which includes PP?

Hmm the 10% discount is something to consider. If you're buying two long-haul J or F tickets even once a year you could probably get the cost of the card back. No doubt conditions apply of course.

Its a no from me. I don't have $1200 to throw away on this card.

As a metallurgist, my biggest bugbear is the use of "titanium" after "platinum"! Are you kidding!!!!! a coughpy rather cheap metal that is mainly used for the white pigment in paint, has to be alloyed with other metals to stop it failing when its heated, like in aircraft.......

Get real and use something like "palladium" or "iridium", something sexy and expensive in the metals industry.

But by the sounds of the above conversations they should have called it "lead" as it seems to be going that way:)

I would like a Plutonium or Nobelium card please.

Might as well be a Helium card as far as I am concerned. I would not get value to justify the annual fee. Will stick with the current plastic cards in my wallet, which is heavy enough as it is already.

Agreeded. But the reality is that this is a card for those people who run their small/medium businesses through their cards.

Not when you read the fine print about how points are earned from the card: "Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but not limited to) ... transactions made in operating a business".

As with all other Citi-backed cards, also zero points earned on anything remotely related to government spend, so not just ATO, but also public transport fees, Australia Post, street parking meters, road tolling charges and so on.

Kind of pathetic, really... and still a 3% international transaction fee to pay on overseas spend in order to earn points at the higher overseas rate.

Yeah, nah.

At least it appears that QF have a conscience...

With the $200k minimum earn requirement, the suckers that QF rape with this card should have the cash to burn.

I assume that the welcome pack also comes with an invitation to give a Nigerian prince a hand....

.......
1. Assuming you had lowest status with QF and no chance ever accessing QF F Lounge - what would you pay for 1 x entry to the Lounge? .....

Let me know if you get an answer.

I already get 2 x FLounge passes pa to gift as I see fit. I make sure Mr ALH is WP every year, so what should I do with them? ;););)

150K pts for $1,200 = $0.008/pt - is that correct?

One Way F rdpt MEL-LAX is 144 QF pts - correct?

144K x $0.008 = $1,152 + Fuel Fines ~$475 - correct?

So one way QF F MEL-LAX would cost me $1,627 - give or take - correct? Or am I am I missing something?

Jeez you dudes are right - no value here!!!

if they need to be full fare or something like that, then it’s more problematic. Say a couple with a $6,000 j fare and a $10,000 F fare each with a 10% discount, that’s over $3,000 saving right there. However if it only applies to non sale fares, then sure the savings are even bigger, but you can save more by just getting a sales fare. Biggest problem - you have to fly Qantas :)

T&CS suggest sales are OK
It's not a dream card but can work reasonably well (even beyond year 1) for a couple who take 2 paid QF J trips a year. The passes and points would be seen a bonus. SCs may tip some over the psychological hurdle.

You have to use the card concierge team to get the discounted 10% (only valid twice a year) and to go the bonus SCs.
