Status: Accor Platinum
Room Booked: Exec room on 25% off rate
Room upgrade: Yes, Exec suite, 9th floor, runway view.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes, but only 1, requested second and was granted.
Early check in / late out: 2pm check-out requested and granted.
VIP treatment: 2 waters in room, hand-written welcome-back note but from some minion, apple plus small bowl of dried fruit and nuts.
Additional care/notes: TV in main room wasn’t working well. Multiple requests and visits failed to fix. Waited an hour for engineer to return. Eventually called to discover couldn’t be fixed that night. Offered a free movie in other room as compo. Accepted.

Room service for dinner. Not quite what I wanted, though still ok. Complained as part of my grumble re the TV. Was offered a 50 per cent discount on dinner. Also accepted.

Checkout agent inputted wrong room number (despite me giving him my card and folder which had theroom number on it) and tried to charge me incorrect amount. After I asked to see the print out of the bill I discovered the mistake. Profuse apologies but not good enough.

Can’t beat the hotel for convenience but starting to doubt its value. That said, can’t fault the recovery.

Property: Pullman Auckland
Status: Platinum
Room Booked: Superior residence (most basic but new tower). 2 nights
Room upgrade: Yes - Penthouse suite, 17th floor, corner suite.
Rate: Pre-paid but late, about $NZ 280 p/n.
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes, two. Plats get any drink on the menu, including $25 coughtails. Had my usual bloody marys
Early check in / late out: Not required
Exec Lounge: Yes.
VIP treatment: Stunning and unexpected upgrade to a $10,000 per night room that can only be purchased direct. (Two bathrooms, two TVs, full kitchen, sound system, coffee machine. Other rooms on this floor start at $3000 p/n). Lots of waters, turndown service, newspapers, standard welcome platter of sweets.

Hotel hosts a number of tennis players in January so was surprised to get a good rate. In touch with my usual contacts prior to stay and upgrade options seemed limited -- could get a high floor in the room I booked, or an upgrade to a suite but on floor 6. I declined. Very pleasantly surprised on check-in to be told I would be sharing the 17th floor with some tennis stars!

Great breakfast and spa experiences as usual. Lounge consistent -- quiet, nice canapes, decent drinks and great service.

Might have helped that I mentioned I would be staying next at the new SO Auckland. It sure worked to get me the upgrade. Which also sure worked to get me to return to the Pullman.

Property: Sofitel Brisbane
Status: Accor Platinum (first year I have made it to Platinum)
Room Booked: Superior King Room - room only.
Room upgrade: Club Sofitel King Room with club access
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes
Early check in / late out: Not Req
VIP treatment:
1. Booked two rooms at the cheapest rate. Other room was for the in laws. They gave the in laws a Club Sofitel Room as well but without club access.
2. Turn down service for my room only.
3. For breakfast in the morning asked how much for the in laws to have breakfast with us in the lounge - was told $49 each but most likely we would get a better deal downstairs with buffet breakfast. When I asked downstairs was told normally $20 surcharge for wife and I if we wanted the buffet but as platinum no surcharge and only paid for one of the in laws. So $49 for buffet breakfast for the 4 of us.

Only complaint is when checking my account today points and status credit based on the $49 for breakfast. My bill was for $1200 as that included the Saturday night buffet for 9 people and all charged to my room. When I book more than one room on my card I always need to call to sort out points posting.

I've stayed here several times for work over the past three or four years on the occasions I don't fly back to CBR same day. Have to say the guaranteed drinks, bottle of wine and snacks are a great benefit, especially if I'm too late for the lounge. This and the location (for me) make what is an otherwise average and tired hotel worthwhile.

Slightly OT, but I see a few of us are Accor Plus Platinums. Can one still procure Accor Plus Platinum, or that avenue for aquiring the status is gone? I’ve just dropped to Gold, though have a number of AccorHotels properties on our company program this year, with lounges, and wouldn’t mind funding that to get it...

Cheers,
Matt.

I got keyring, bag tags and RFID cases. Not too shabby.

Funnily enough after receiving my moleskine notepad, 3 weeks later I received another package containing plastic luggage tags, leather luggage tag, and a plastic sleeve. Weird

I received my package today with the plastic luggage tags, leather key ring and a plastic sleeve. No moleskin notepad but this is my first time as Platinum.

Spending two nights at Sebel Pelican Waters. Provided the points post (have had 2 stays at the Sofitel Brisbane in January and problem with points posting after each stay) will reach 3100 status credits - only 11,000 to go!

Booked on the phone app and have confirmation email from the Sebel but no sign of booking on either my phone or when logging in on the desktop. I have a feeling will need to chase up points again.

Just received a package including plastic luggage tags, leather key ring and a plastic sleeve too. The thing is i didn't re-qualify this year.

Got all excited, but the website says my platinum membership runs out at the end of February.

Any idea what is going on??

Property: The Sebel Pelican Waters
Status: Accor Plus Platinum
Room Booked: 1 Bedroom with Spa and Pool view
Room upgrade: No
Free internet: Yes
Welcome drinks: Yes, 2
Early check in / late out: Early check in not required. Requested late check out and was given until 12.00
VIP treatment: Welcome card with a Sebel shopping bag (like a woollies bag!)

Additional care: Complimentary Breakfast in Restaurant included. Nothing mentioned at check in and on the first morning the Restaurant Hostess was excited and pleasant to tell me that we had continental buffet with bacon and eggs cooked to order included. Second morning different hostess not so excited and pleasant and said we were entitled only to the continental buffet.
Other comments: Very pleasant stay overall. If you want a restful weekend close to Brisbane would recommend. The Restaurant is outstanding.
